Do you ever miss "Show-and-Tell"

If you ever did "Show-and-Tell" as a child what would you usually bring to class?

We've never had show-and-tell where i'm from so i don't really understand the premise.

Do you just bring some random thing to school and show it off to your peers and that's that?

I remember once I had show and tell so I brought some old timey fake money I got at a historic place (not sure where), however it was a substitue teacher and I was late, so he thought it was a note I'd brought to explain my lateness, he then put it in his pocket without looking. I didn't have the nerve to explain or ask for my fake money back (but I still had plenty at home). I can't help but think how confused he must have been later when he found twenty fake old timey pounds in his pocket.

Being British... no, we never had 'show-and-tell' over here as kids. The sum of my knowledge regarding 'show-and-tell' is from Peanuts and Charlie Brown's misadventures at grade-school.
