Ever since I was very young, people have pointed out that I pretty much always hum to the music of videogames. Even when playing Worms on my DS at the pub with friends, they tell me to shut up when I don't notice I'm doing it.

So, is this is a common thing, or is it the minority that hum to video games music when they're playing?

The Gears of War theme is about the only one I really hum to.

I mean, you can't NOT hum to that! It's like not humming to the "Imperial March" from Star Wars! It's a crime!

I quite often catch myself humming Bohemian Rhapsody and the 1812 Overture. Make of that what you will.

Sometimes when I'm bored I do but humming really hurts my throat and seems to take so much more effort and force than talking or singing or staying silent so for the most part no.

Wish I knew why it hurt... maybe my hums are too powerful for my mortal vocal cords.

I, good sir or madame, am a singer.

Not really, but if there are songs that I am currently into, I'll tend to sing the chorus to myself.

What am I singing? Man in the Wilderness by Styx, Sick Bubblegum (Skrillex Remix) by Rob Zombie, and Fly by Night by Rush.

No. Also, hearing others humming, whistling, singing, belching etc. tunes out loud irritates me greatly.

Yes, humming or 'dadada'ing. I keep doing it to the Superman theme tune while playing Lego Batman 2 at the moment (it plays when you start flying as Superman in the overworld), then realising what I'm doing and out loud telling myself to shut up (I play it with my boyfriend as well, he doesn't seem to be too annoyed by it, though).

But I also hum... all of the time. If it's quiet and I'm not concentrating on anything, I tend to hum. Like if I'm cooking. Or standing at the train platform. Often while swaying. And I don't notice until I've been humming Gary Numan's 'Cars' while wobbling like a Weeble in a public space for three minutes.

Most people seem to think it's kind of cute. Others (like my dad) think it's weird and it makes them uncomfortable. I try not to do it in front of my dad but I just don't realise I'm doing it most of the time.
