Do you know this game?

Ok I'm not expecting anyone to know this but for some reason it's been bugging me not knowing it. It's a game for the computer (No Download) and there are 2 small almost 8 bit racers on this grid type terrain. You are one and the CPU is the other and when you drive you leave a trail behind you. You have to try to kill the other person by making them drive into your trail. I've looked everywhere but I can't remember what its called. If you can help ~

Tron, or something based on Tron.

It does sound a lot like a Tron-based racing game, but it also could have been a rip-off from Tron. One of the few Tron games I recall was based more around the combat portion of the game from the movie, but there could have been one that merely focused on the racing aspect.
