Whether it be top 40 radio electro-pop (Lady Gaga)/electro-hop(LMFAO, New Boyz) , or more electronica (DeadMau5) and Dubstep (Skrillex)?

I was against it at first, but over the last year or so, it's growing on me. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...

Pretty much the same thing for me actually. I used to be against it, but it's now one of my favorite genres. I pretty much listen to all types. Mostly Casiokids, Skrillex, deadmau5, The Bloody Beetroots, and Tiesto.

Typically I like loud and aggressive music. However my days of taking acid gave me a great affection for industrial (as it was like a modern incarnation at the time of some of the ideas set forth by pink floyd like Welcome to the Machine)

I got a little bored with electronica for most of the last decade, but recently gotten into some dubstep because as I said, I like loud and aggressive music. Dubstep seemingly is trying to push the boundries Reznor started to push before he flaked out.

So yes, have an appreciation for it, Some of it I like, Most of it, like most music is garbage though.

Simply put I can fully enjoy music made without a single traditional instrument just as well as I can traditional music. Its really all about the merit and quality of the individual works.

I'm more of a prog-rock guy, but I do like electronic music.

I have noticed I'm getting a lot more into Europop lately.

I wonder if in 50 years people will play organic instruments...

Daft Punk is the only thing for me in terms of electronic, except if you count 8-bit and 16-bit style stuff in there. Depeche Mode, I guess, if you consider it partially.

I absolutely LOVE Electronica. It is foremost what I listen to. There is really too many artists to name. A lot of which are not "Mainstream" because its Rave music. However, here are some of the artists I listen to.

Daft Punk (My Idols/Gods)
Prodigy
Crystal Method
Deadmau5
Professor Kliq
Plump DJ's
Parov Stelar
The New Deal
Groove Armada
Justice
Kid Koala
Layo & Bushwacka

The other stuff that's non-mainstream are genre's like Scouse House (and other House sub-genres), Happy Hardcore and various forms of Trance.

So yea..I guess you could say I live and breath this stuff, but hey..It makes me happy..and that's what it's all about.

It confuses me how people call "Electronic" a genre of music. Does that make "Organic" a genre too?

Anyhow, I certainly listen to alot of electronica, the main people I'm listening to at the moment are Venetian Snares, a breakcore artist, edIT, an ambiglitch artist and Freddy Todd, whose music is somewhere between glitch-hop and dubstep. I also make a bunch of electronic music myself, it's available for any price you want at http://villafuzz.bandcamp.com AHAHA SHAMELESS SELF PLUG

But enough of that, it's Youtube spam time.

^My favourite song from Venetian Snares' newest album, My So-Called Life.

^Another brilliant VSnares track from Songs About My Cats.

^A ridiculously smooth edIT song.

^My go-to song whenever the topic of dubstep crops up. It's godly.

^My newly created intro to Bug (deep black noise was the old name, but it's changed since the making of the video).

Absolutely. There is some really amazing electronic stuff out there. When I was younger I listened to loads of Europop - still do fairly often - and I've grown extremely fond of Trance music. I'll listen to a bit of everything electronica, there's such an awesome variety of styles.

All of the electronic you mentioned happened to be(IMO) fucking terrible. But I do enjoy electronic music, by that I mean Ambient, Glitch, Glitch-core, Some Electro-house, and many combinations of those genres. Producers like Jon Hopkins, Four Tet, Telefon Tel aviv etc.

Well yes. But I like a lot of music. I've heard friends say that electronic isn't real music because it's made by computer. However, I'd say that all instruments are a "computer" of a sort, just as rocks and pulleys were dubbed "simple machines." And ease of use doesn't necessarily imply a lack of skill, since that usually comes with an easy to pick up, difficult to master sorta thing. And if it's easier to make something that sounds good, you need to work harder to make your music stand out.

So yeah, I like dubstep and club type stuff, but electronic has its "artistic" side as well. There's plenty of emotionally stimulating electronic music. For example, I listen to Panthu Du Prince, Ebb, Gabriel and Dresden, The Knife, as well as Caribou and Massive Attack. There's a lot of variation. Ambient, trance, etc.

I'm probably predesposed to the genre, since I grew up on Videogames, though.
