Playing online annoys the fuck out of me, so I only buy games that have local multiplayer with AI bots, which is the only reason I bought cod BO, BO2 and Ghosts(which is hated by everyone apparently) and if they don't have local multiplayer (damn you titanfall!) I buy shooters with a long or replayable campaign.

I don't think I'm the only one who enjoys shooting some bots, and it bothers me when they don't add them even if people ask for it (battlefield 4)

So do you prefer them to online multiplayer?

Well offline multiplayer is certainly a welcome addition, I had some great fun playing against bots in Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.

But do I prefer it to online multiplayer?

No.

Fighting against bots just doesn't compare to the thrill of competing against actual human players.

I prefer online multiplayer, If I wanted to shoot some bots I just play the story mission, or I can just go play co-op with a friend. Offline multiplayer just with bots seem kinda lack luster to me.

Fuck yeah, not all games have the audience with the longevity of the biggest multiplayer games so they are really important for smaller games. And overall they are nice to blow off some steam, even if they are actually a challenge to beat like in Unreal you will never feel bad to be on a deathstreak.

Also, I lost months with Timesplitters, that multiplayer was amazing.

Killzone 1 bots mode. I sunk HOURS into that game. Gears Judgement was the only offline mode that came close to it's awesomeness.

Timesplitters are the best multiplayer shooters I ever played, so yeah, offline bot matches are not only better, but the best form of multiplayer.

EDIT: Captcha: fairy godmother. Yes, please, fairy godmother, bring me a Timesplitters 4!

Definitely! The offline multiplayer is the main reason I still replay Unreal Tournament from time to time, Timesplitters too when my PS2 was still plugged in.

Of course bots won't ever beat real players, but man I just can't help but love 'em, guess its the fact that I can freely experiment and mess around and die without actually feeling like I'm pissing other players off or ruining the match or whatnot.

It also generally feels like they put much more love into the game when it comes with proper bot support. But that's just me :p
