Do you love Fantasy Dwarves? Than you might like the game "The Dwarves"

This game came out of nowhere but appearently its been on Kickstarter for awhile and just recently the game released.


To sum up its a Isometric Tactial Real Time RPG based on a series of German high fantasy books called Die Zwerge (The Dwarves) which as the name suggests the main charcaters are Dwarves, the same old Dwarves who's chief god (Vraccas) made them from stone, live in Huge and Grand Underground Cities, great miners and blacksmiths, drinks ale, scottish accents, huge and stylish beards, and all the cool things about Dwarves. Humans and Elves also exists, But it is interesting seeing Dwarves be the main charcaters in a tradional fantasy setting for once.

What caught my eye with this game is the production values and art style, it looks so traditional/old school yet its very appealing to the eyes.

Also if you are concerned the game's soundtrack is gonna be that out of place Metal Soundtrack, don't worry the official soundtrack has a glorious orchestral score:

I know that, but so far from what I seen this game seems to be a cut above the rest at least.

I was just having a wee bit of fun. I checked out the trailer and the Steam comments. It does look rather up my alley.

Negative reviews all seem to mention two things:
- lots of bugs (which may change in time, we're but a short time since release)
- way too short

So, hmmm. Colour me interested. I'm gonna wait till it gets updated and maybe pick it up on a sale.

I have and read the book series years back. I was very surprised to see a game based on them suddenly pop up on Steam. It certainly looks pretty great, will have to check it out eventually.

It also made me curious to see if there were other books in the series, and it looks like he continued the Dwarves series kind of with books based on the Alfar (Elves).

I would recommend the book series, as they're a good fantasy read, though I feel the final ending is a bit anti-climatic with almost nothing explained. I imagine the new Elven books dig more into that, though.

Well for one:

This game is based on a series of German books that began in 2003.

The Dwarves here don't have advanced technology to the point of helicopters and gunpowdered firearms.

Their Chief God is named Vraccas, not Grungni.

And GW got rid of Warhammer Fantasy and replaced it with Age of Sigmar and they don't call Dwarfs "Dwarfs" in that game anymore.

Looks like a fun little...RPG? Diablo-esque game? Something like that? Eh, it's cool, I love dwarves.

I doubt it'll be more dwarfy than Dwarf Fortress though. Still the best dwarf game ever made.
