Do you map for older games?

I started to map for the original F.E.A.R today and I noticed most of my Steam contacts use the Source SDK. So I got into a conversation and pretty much everyone on my list has only used Hammer in their lifetime.

I personally used UnrealEd for a few hours before getting annoyed with it. Lithtech's WorldEdit's not bad but it's pretty counter intuitive.

Really my question is do you map for old games that people have already pretty much stopped playing altogether?

I use UnrealEngine3 a lot but used to map for Elite Force and EF2, which are Quake 3 based. Tried to get back into it for Urban Terror 4.1, but damn that UI is so bad now.

I personally use a customised version of Radiant (Doom3) called DarkRadiant (Dark Mod editor)... release date of my fan mission.... sometime this decade! Other than that, the last game editor I used was the DN3D editor like 9 years ago, and all my maps were octagons with the ice texture :/

Captcha - diamond is forever ..... well ice can look like diamond, right? :/

Used to do UnrealEd3, but often just get bored and decided to not finish everything i ever started. It seems like if you can ever be stuffed to start map creating you'd have to be really focused to really complete it.

Although now you come to the idea of mapping in games, I have started a java-based Halo Reach Forge map creator. I dont really plan on releasing it, and im alot more focused on finishing the dam thing.

ot: Making maps requires dedication, and to have such dedication you'd then have to not be me.

Most of the time the motivation to complete a map comes with the thought of releasing it.

Of course most of the maps I make are so bad I end up not releasing them.
