Just a random question. I have played very occasionally since I was pretty young, but I never was much good. Apparently I had a natural swing, but it didn't really help since I would shoot like 120-130 on 18 holes.

Anyway a couple years ago I started playing a lot more and just yesterday had the best 9 holes of my life (not awesome, a 45, so 11 over par) but I'm more excited to play than ever.

So, yeah, do you play? Like it? Hate it?

I play it every so often but I was never any good at it compared to my dad and my grandpa. I don't really like watching it on tv but I did enjoy playing it.

I only just started playing last weekend due to a family friend giving me his old clubs. I went out for my first time and since it was a 9 hole course, you went round twice. I got 84 first 9 and shaved 17 off of that on the second 9. I loved the day out, i really enjoy golf...

It's not my favourite past-time, but it should never be considered a sport, just like Poker shouldn't be considered a sport. There's too much standing around doing nothing, and far too much technology in today's game.

Wait, what? Golf shouldn't be considered a sport? Since when does sport mean "must be sweaty when playing"?

"sport/spôrt/
Noun:
An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others."

Anyway that's not at all the point. I never watch it on TV, super boring. Not quite as bad as basketball and baseball, but close. Playing golf is a whole different matter.

I really enjoy golfing with friends sometimes and just relaxing and drinking some beers, talking and laughing. It's a fun activity.

In that case I did played a few as a kid. I wasn't good at it.
Honestly thought I liked this video game base on mini golf more than real mini golf. Yes that kind of take away the element of playing it by hand but this game had lava, on the moon etc while having funny and different narrators aswell (yes the mini gold course I played in real life sucks).

If mini golf counts, then yes. Otherwise, no.

I was introduced to it in high school gym and I didn't mind playing it but wasn't grabbed by it at all. Once that that week or so section of gym ended, I so did my playing of the sport.

I have played golf once. Mini golf about 6 times. I did well. I was even ask how long I had played golf for. My golf swings from bad hockey hits transferred over. Now I know why they are called golf swings.

I have an unnatural seething hatred for it, but hey if you enjoy it then go for it.

I enjoy golf, have a couple drinks, drive around the course, swing the club, few more drinks, next hole, swing the club. Very relaxing in its own way

Yes, quite a bit. But I keep getting stuck at the windmill.

In truth, other than mini-golf, I don't play golf at all. And even that I don't play much. My grandfather does, though. And he loves watching golf

Relevant bit from 3:30/6:00 out.
The drive looks like the only fun part.

And the wee buggies.

I'm terrible at it but I play. Part of the issue that I only play maybe twice a year. Still, I find it enjoyable enough plus when I play, it's usually at a company sponsored event. That means I get paid to play.

Hitting the big club is always fun... until it zooms sideways and gets lost in the bush. 60% of the time, that happens every time. However, I had by far my best drive ever yesterday so that was super awesome. I'm sure it was just a perfect storm of everything connecting perfectly, because the hole was listed as 367 yards and I found my ball 10 yards short of the green... like wut? I doubt I will ever, ever hit a ball that far again.

However as my game's improved I'm finding even the shorter iron shots are a lot of fun, it's like target practice... maybe like archery. It feels good to swing well and watch the ball zoom at the target. Putting is a chore, but if you can down the ball in 1 or 2 putts it still feels good. I'm used to hitting 3, 4, even 5 putts which is just garbage.

I enjoy golf, but I'm bloody terrible at it. I can do a half decent drive.... unfortunately, that's about all I can do.
