Do you take seriousness in what people say if they're on probation.

<--- I was recently put on probation as I'm sure you can all see personally I feel really stupid for what I did considering I knew it was wrong but the post just really pissed me off but I digress. Now for the whole point of the thread, I'm considering taking the whole week off from The Escapist because of my probation. Any thoughts on the matter?

I think you're missing the point of the probation. It's meant as a warning - don't log out for the week if you don't want to because I doubt people will worry too much about your tag for the week.

Just, uh, don't go doing anything stupid, now especially!

I wouldn't take the week off, just don't draw too much attention to it, as I did, and I derailed a thread because everyone felt it neccsary to tell me that I was an asshole.

I don't pay any attention to that. I look at the content of the message before I decide whether or not to take the post seriously.

If you're truly enraged then maybe you should stay away from the forums for awhile...although in hindsight probation isn't too bad once you've been suspended. Thank god for user groups because if it wasn't for them i would have gone absolutely bonkers.

Well, a break from the forums can be a good thing if you feel that you're getting overly angry at things, certainly.

I did it once, during my second suspension. Helped out no end. I'd recommend it.
See that's what I was thinking but the people that think:

I've never suffered mod wrath in the two and a half years I've been here, but I think that probation or suspension will do you good. Just to cool down if you were having a rant at someone, it discourages you from just descending into gnawing at your monitor, I'm sure.

I bet that some hilarious mod will put me on probation or something for the bragging up there.

I usually see what the person got suspended for before forming an opinion about him.

You, for example, said something that I would have thought to myself, and I still take you seriously.

If I ever encountered Fluffybacon, on the other hand, I'd giggle at her idiocy and leave.

I just can't seem to take my eyes off your display picture...

OT: Well if I see someone on probation, I usually check what they said and compare it to what they are currently saying. If it is essentially more of the same then I'll immediately just forget it. Otherwise it may of been a 'bad day' sort of post, which is forgivable. As opposed to someone posting something outrageous when not on probation then I'll probably laugh or consider it a bit more.

So in short, yes. I do.

I just ignore the post I see a probation on and click as fast as I can to find out what the probation was for, as in your case.

Hmm... getting angry on the internet. Poor form, my good chap. Poor form.

Live & Learn, accept and move ion. If you messed up, take it as a part of a learning experience. Now you know that you won't likely do it again. Having the big, ominous letters by your name and reminders over each post must suck as well. I bet it's a hugely negative feeling all around, so that should stop you from causing any problems in the future. As they say though, you have to fall in order to fly. :)
Ya basically, hell if I could pay to get rid of the red taunting letters I would it pisses me off especially since I'm pissed more at myself than anything.

That was most probably the kind of effect he was looking for.
Oh that pisses me off more than anything. So does he honestly go around and piss people off just to get them in trouble or does he just get off by pissing people off?
