So i have been watching and looking some footage and imo it doesnot looks bad. while watching it, i said not bad, not bad. it looks far far better than shitty games like unity and syndicate or overrated games like AC2. but i dont think it will be better than Black flag. thats the peak of franchise.

what i like is that they actually change the combat system. instead of one button smash or hold right click and wait for counter that was in AC2 (lol what were ubisoft thinking??). it actually feel like combat might take some skills. infact the game looks like most challenging AC game to date.

the egypt setting is also interesting. better than any previous setting except pirate ones of course.

the lead developer is ashraf ismail. the one behind black flag. so yes it can turn out as good as black flag and not as terrible as other games.

the series become much better when jade raymond left. and replace by ashraf ismail.

what do you think? will it be finally a good game? or will it be as bad as previous?

Anything is possible.

Unfortunately Ubisoft doesn't have an off switch. They're incapable of not constantly vying for your attention and just letting you take in the gameworld at your own leisure. Developers in general nowadays are deathly afraid of isolating the player and just letting them be alone for a while, but Ubisoft is the worst.

I...really do not care anymore. Assassin's Creed's (try saying that five times over, really fast) only real appeal was the "climb over everything" gameplay shtick. Now that's worn off, what you have left is 30-40 hrs of repetitive side missions and the ultimate failing in an open-world game: trailing missions. It's the reason I gave up on the franchise.

But if you want my two cents: it will be the same as always.

P.S. Before anyone quotes me, I did think this game had potential once. Then my inner cynic kicked in and so my opinion on this has changed.

The combat looks improved. But other than that it just looks same old. You played one of those games you played them all.

I'm interested. My first AC was 3, which, after two or three hours, was also my last. My gods, how tedious it was. I felt validated after complaints rolled in for the various subsequent games, but I've watched a few gameplay videos and gone 'hmmm....'. It doesn't hurt that there have been changes promised for this one, and it's ancient Egypt! Plus, I always want stealth and archery in my games, so I'll probably take the plunge....

When it's about $20. No day one purchase for ME. I might be ready to forgive AC3, but I haven't forgotten it!

It will be the same as all the others. Nebulous content, likely tower climbing, parkour, sandbox, levelling(TM) your weapons. If you've played Ubisoft(TM) The Game (R) previously, this is the latest $60 version of it, with a Digital Deluxe Edition giving you Digital Crap(TM) and a Season Pass for $20+ dollars more with more Content(TM).

I don't think so. I saw a decently long play sessions on PCGamer and it looked awful. Terrible animations, voicework, and graphics. Plus, for all of their talk of being inspired by the Witcher 3's quests and world building, it still looks like the same ol' empty shell that the AC series has been for quite some time.

It really depends on what you mean by a good game.

Will it have a coherent story, with a satisfying narrative arc?
Probably not.

Will the setting be presented in an interesting, thought provoking way?
It will likely be so ludicrous as to make Stargate look like an archaeological thesis.

Will the characters be interesting, their personal stories compelling?
Will Ubisoft hire actual writers?

Will the gameplay be fun, exciting, and use the setting in a clever way?
It will have all the gadgets of all the other games, and a pet bird.

Will the game be finished when it comes out, and exist in a playable state?
This is Ubisoft.

It just reminds me that I stil have to get Syndicate. It's only a tenner nowadays and the only one I'm even remotely interested in due to the setting.

Not likely.

It will be interesting because of the setting, at least it is rather unrepresented; but based on the trailer, some history scholars are going to have a fun time ripping this one out.

Maybe. I like the idea of a game set in Ancient Egypt, detailing how the Assasin Order began, but I need to see them do a good job before I give them a cent.

Apparently they took some time off, so maybe that'll translate into a better game, I have no idea, I don't really follow videogame news. I like to say I enjoy the AssCreed games, but I've only really played AC, AC2 and Brotherhood. Ancient Egypt is an interesting setting, it's something I always liked, whether it's a movie, book, game, doesn't matter, I enjoy Egypt, if it's good I'll probably pick it up in a 75% off sale. I didn't really care for renaissance Italy that much, or London? Paris? I don't even know where the other games take place.

Rangaman said it best up there, the cool thing about the first AC was the whole parkour everything!, though to be fair I also liked how the game was just straight to the point, go here, kill this guy, then go there, kill that other guy, the end. The next games got more and more boring, with death squads, and protect your castle from invading enemies, and customize your clothes! I'm willing to bet this one will be too, filled to the brim with shit I don't care about, so in that regard, it will probably suck.

tldr: Great setting, ruined by irritating gameplay probably.

It's going to be an Assassin's Creed game. How you feel about the series, for better or worse, is how you're going to feel about this game.

The problem with Ancient Egypt might be that there wasn't that much architecture to the cities, outside of a few and far apart monuments. At least that's the impression I have of the setting.

I'm still waiting for Feudal Japan. It's gonna happen someday.

I really don't care much about dev cred or anything like that.

What I do know is that the footage I've seen so far got me rather interested in the game, which is something the last two games never ever managed. I'll still wait for the reviews, but I'm cautiously hopeful for a this to turn out really well.
