I don't like nor do I purchase Anime games. I feel like I am 12 years old when I play one. Plus it just seems weird for adult gamers to play games where the characters look like kids.

Hell no. So far, the best "anime game" was Oni. In my opinion.

*prays for an Elfen Lied game*

You're going to have to give a better definition of what an 'anime' game is...

If you're talking about a game like Disgaea, then not at all; it's an amazingly hilarious and deep SRPG and I don't honestly give a shit about other people's opinions as far as my entertainment is concerned.

Not at all, because anime is not childish. By the very distinction of "anime" as opposed to American animation, you are including very mature, intelligent, and emotional shows such as FullMetal Alchemist, Death Note, and Cowboy Bebop. Anime is not childish, so why should I feel childish when I play an anime game?

Ok, for 1) what is wrong with feeling like a 12 year old, being a kid was fun =/

2)How doe any of these...

or

look childish to you...

and 3) You are over-stereotyping this...It's pretty damn easy to tell the difference between a child or adult, or a male or female for that matter...

No, most of them are pretty decent and to me felling childish is not a bad thing .

Now cartoon games, they need more improvement.

It all depends on the game in question. Dragon Ball Burst Limit would be manlier than Harvest Moon but then, Harvest Moon, while in an anime style, is not based off of any anime I'm aware of. It all depends on which game you play. I think Peggle is more juvenile than the latest Bleach or, Naruto game [and the upcoming Detroit Metal City game will be brutal]

Haven't played any.
But, considerin' there is like this big stigma against games in Japan, yeah, probably.
The only adult games made over there are... well, you know.

Sure, some of them deal with mature themes, but they really are aimed at children.
The mature themes are there to sell to adults while gettin' around the stigma, as I understand it.

Also, I am reasonably sure Japan is way more okay with letting kids know things than we are in the west.
Over here, we don't allow smoking in our cartoons. Fucking smoking.
Those guys have casts consisting of crossdressers and gay dudes.
Imagine that shit over here. Every soccer mom ever would have a god damned field day.

They are not childish. They are, unfortunately, generally poor games though. Curse of the movie/TV adaptation, the developers tend to rely on fandom to sell the game, so they deliver sup-par games. There are exceptions to every rule.

And I would put it to you that the lego games are childish. Doesn't stop me from enjoying them.

A lot of the anime games I've played were awful. Mostly the Gundam ones. But some were good and not childish.

Ah, the times when Bungie meant more than Halo...

I find that if I think it's fun, I'll not think twice about it. Likely why I own so many Pokemon games.

i cant stand the dialougue in most JRPG's as they sound like they were taken from a bad fan fiction written by a 13 year old.

Visuals are normally pretty good though but still the dialouge gets to me it normally sounds so ridiculous and jarring.

Hells to the yes. Those games are absurd. The damage caps have not been found yet, and people are hitting at over 3 billion.
Also, Tales...
Symphonia had deep subject matter and great combat,
Vesperia continued that fashion,
and The Abyss was utterly brilliant.

How are anime games as a whole childish? Yes, some (not all) feature young characters, but that doesn't mean the game itself is necessarily a kids game.

Well you see, most of the games which are made from the Japanese anime market into games are shounen anime. They aren't meant to be mature. They're relatively shallow and mostly focus on over the top fight sequences, this is why you think they're immature. Some of the more adult animes won't be turned into games because they are not popular enough.

Sure, games like rapelay will slip through to the international market, but it doesn't happen all that often.
I'm hoping for what kevlar said. An elfen Lied game would be awesome. It's deep, mature, and the gameplay mechanics would be seriously unique.

I believe they are more childish than the television shows or films, but not as a whole. I find the entire games industry tends to aim for younger generations, not just "anime" games
