do you think final fantasy VII (7) should be remastered for the play station 3 and 360.

I've never played the original, but it has it's legendary status so I see absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be re-made. Afterall, if it's bad, people can just go back to the original right?

I've never been a player of FF (I used to enjoy Kingdom Hearts though), but today I watched the FFXIII trailer and I think it looks awesome, so I'm pretty stoked for that now.

It occurs that if they remade it all the characters would look like their goth tastic Advent Children incarnations like they did in Kingdom Hearts 2...

I think I prefer the color of the original.

No, FF VII doesn't need a remake, it needs to be laid down to rest forever. I'm still pissed that they took the game and made a franchise for it, most of which sucks (Advent Children being an exception). FF VII is over, it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

Don't get me wrong, I loved FF VII, but I'd rather the money used to remake it go into something new (hint hint Square...). If you love the original, then just play instead. I played through it last year, and the ugly graphics or dated combat didn't bother me a bit.
Dated combat? Turn based (in one way or another) should still be going, however, it is dying out... so I guess that is where it becomes dated... sucks that the games are losing their unique, well, Unique-ish turn based style of combat... because apparently people don't like it because it isn't "real" and having ssome kind of turn based game incorporates a kind of stratergy to do with timing of attacks which it would seem the common CoD4 (I would group all the people that ONLY play WW games e.g. CoD4, CoD5, etc in this catergory) can't comprehend because the games they have played have never had any form of story other than "go kill those guys that aren't American" or because you can't scream down headsets at 10 year olds... or have never stepped outside the real world into the glorious world of in-depth fiction (where there is a completely new world, race, etc) because the most fiction they have ever seen is how they managed to change the outcome of the Somme battle or something stupid...
What was the topic? Oh right.
I do wish people would stop fearing that it would mean that the materia system would get messed up or the combat system or something like that. The question was whether it should be REMASTERED which from my knowledge means an improvement on sound quality, picture quality, manage to put it into one disc without the loss of content, improved graphics whilst still keeping the slightly cartoonish looks... Really to the graphics without ruining the feel they can just make it less than this block jumped over here... really the let down of the character figures is shown best in the Sephiroth Followers who were blocks with a round top and a few bends in them. Keep the cartoonish look, improve the translation, maybe get some VA and improve the graphics... so yeah, KH graphic style WHILST keeping Cloud out of black leather...
P.S. I think Sephiroth in AC was the best part... other than that it was only good for the action scenes. Sephiroth in 3D was awesome and his voice fit the character.

I am too in love with Crisis Core's handling of the Materia system to think of an FFVII remake sticking to the old way of things.
i have to admit, i do love crisis cores menus and materia, but i think they should leave combat the same!!!!
Considering that Agito will be "Crisis Core + Party Members", a remake of FF7 with the same combat mechanics and exploration system as Crisis Core/Agito would be cool. Although we have yet to see how Agito town/zone exploration will be, hope they can follow suit and do something similar.

No.

Why?, because i personally think it sucks, but for unbiased reasons as well.

A remaster is never as good as the original, so if you like FFVII, then play FFVII...

Not to mention phantasy star portable like multiplayer :) You contro one character while 3 other friends play other party members. Now imagine THAT in a FF7 remake.

Release it on the PSN or whatever, maybe fix some translation problems (if there are any) and that's it. Don't remake the whole game.

But then again I don't like the game to begin with.

To be fair, a big reason they may look weird in KH2 is because they clash with Hollow Bastion's brighter, Disney-esque scenery. Throw them back into dank, depressing Midgar, and they'll fit like a glove.

That would be sextastic. I can already picture the massive grind race at checkpoints doing all these nifty little missions to collect more materia ;p

I would enjoy it if only the graphics were boosted up
I've had a friend tryin to get me to play it, but everytime I pop it in I get so turned by the graphics that I don't play.. I know it is supposedly the best game ever, what with Cloud cutting himself and Vincent attempting to do the same or however it goes, but I just haven't gotten hooked into the story and it is because of the graphics I am used to seeing compared to what is in this game
don't change the story or anthing, just give the old girl a boob job and I'm sure I'll take a second glance

I always wondered what happened to alot of the "fantasy" in that series. Don't get me wrong I liked 7 alot, but why aren't folks still going nuts over 9?

I say.... Fuck no!
There have already been to many remakes, it was a good game yes but it never needed spin offs or any shit like that.

I would probably go out and buy a PS3 if they ever released a version of FFVII for it. I think out of all the gaming hours I logged FFVII probably makes up for like 10% of it let alone the franchise. I really played that game alot lol.

Generic graphics dope number 1; I heard that FF7 was a true classic but the graphics are so bad I can't possibly play it.

Generic graphics moron number 2; yeah if only they made a remake of it where everything was exactly the same but the graphics had been updated to appeal to people with an attention span shorter than the half life of Nitrogen 16 (7 and a bit seconds before you go look it up.)

Graphics over hauls are things PC modding communities do. It is not something a major production company does to appease those who can't play a game because it isn't as shiny as the games they are used to. The best you can hope for is a conversion of the original with maybe a few additional wanky bits added on which they'll then charge a fiver for.

If you can't play the original because of the graphics, if you seriously think that the exact same game with better graphics is the only way you could play it then you seriously do not deserve to play the game at all.

i think the OP means that they take all the same game and change the graphics to fit with the next gen consoles. (by the way they are remaking FFVII for the ps3.)
This rumor has been flying around since...before the ps3 was released. Soooo, "Pics or it didn't happen."

Ps. It can't be picks from a trailer that came out over two years ago. aka, make it recent pics.

On topic, I dont think a remastering for the ps3 and 360 is necessary. Just let the damn game die already. Also, I personally find the fighting system to be dated. Now, if they tried to add things to the battle system I am confident they would cock it up. So, no, I don't want a remake to tarnish my good memories with a good game of old.
not to start a flame war here my fellow escapee but we have distinguished this awhile ago. i apologized as i sincerely didn't know so please can we drop it here?
Sure, consider it dropped. Square just annoys me with its, "We're going to make a FFVII remake!...eventually...maybe." If and when it comes out, I would buy it. However, I have this sneaking suspicion that it will be shit.

I have allready adressed this before, the search function is your friend.

I personally would love nothing more, and think sony could get alot of money back. Wether it happens or not does not matter, I still have my PS1 siting in my living room right now, and I'm re-playing it once again, because i don't need it to have stunning graphics that will encrust my eyelids in diamond dust (lol).

Personally I'm surprised the franchise has existed as long as it has. It's not even a truly great game. Sure it had some decent qualities about it, but a great game is one that breaks barriers, and expands the form of media that is gaming. Aside from that there are even better final fantasies out there, such as six. My last point would be remakes are nothing but cheap ways of raking a bit of dough from the fools who think it will be better or different. They should keep working on XIII and make sure it isn't an endless grindfest with no story like XII.
