Do you think The Order 1886 is going to be good?

So with this game being out in like, a week or so do you think it's going to be good? I'm pretty much unhyped for this game what with all this stuff about poor framerates, black borders, poor previews, 'just another third person shooter' etc. but still, I only make up my mind when I've actually played it myself. :p

It's a pretty big exclusive and it definitely looks cool(are Gothic Victorian settings becoming the new military brown?) so there is definitely hope that this game will flush away some of the bad taste of last year's disappointments.

So, any of you looking forward to this game? Or, what is your impression of it so far?

To me it just seems like an uninspired third person shooter in a not-so-novel-anymore Victorian setting. I mean, I doubt it will be outright bad, just another forgettable TPS in a market saturated with them. If it turns out to be really good I suppose I'll pick it up during a sale a year or so down the line.

A good... video game?

Since the devs are so focussed on the "cinematic experience" and less on its actual game aspects, nope.

Looks very forgettable.

And that's coming from someone who actually enjoys himself a spot of cover-based shooting of the third person variant.

If I end up getting a PS4 then maybe I'll fish it out of a bargain bin a couple of years from now.

Really, I think the only reason it's getting any attention at all is because it's an exclusive for a newly released console and as such was being pimped hard by Sony. Except then it got delayed and isn't really a release title any more. So so much for that.

It probably won't be a game I remember after playing it but I'll probably have fun with it assuming I buy it in a year from now, for $20 or less once a complete edition is released. Is it really coming out so soon though? I thought it was pushed back until the summer but that just goes to show how closely I've been following this one.

Not really, seems like one of those things people are interested in just because there's not much else.

Pretty much.

This has 'launch game' written all over it, with the same blandness I've come to expect from one.

To be fair though, I haven't even seen that much of it, but what I have just makes it look like the most on-rails experience since Crash Bandicoot.

After seeing the trailer where they showed all the different types of gameplay I immediately gave up on the game. There is pretty much no way to combine that many different playstyles into a single game for it be good. Jack of all trades, master of none. I expect it to be bland and forgettable.

I'm sure it will be a perfectly adequate little shooter provided it actually operates as intended on launch day and doesn't need a couple weeks to fix. If that's the case, it will be a terrible little shooter and quickly forgotten by everyone who didn't forget it since the announcement trailer in E3 2013. On a related note, I actually did forget this game existed until I saw a stupid video ad for it about a week ago.

Do I think it will be good? Definitely.
Do I think it will be amazing or particularly unique in anything but setting? Not really.

I'm expecting it to be a totally competent and enjoyable game that, unfortunately, sits far too comfortably in the all too standard cinematic third person shooter with a squad genre mold. Other than the admittedly still cool concept and setting, I'm just not seeing anything to really get excited about. I can see myself maybe picking it up some time down the line when it's cheap and I'm in the mood for a 3rd person shooter but that's about it.

The story sounds like the result of random word generator throwing concepts together (Alright, we drew "King Arthur", "Steampunk", "Wealth Gap", and "Animal Men", now get to work).

I'm not exactly starved for story heavy games, though. The setting itself also looks nicely done, and I've not played enough TPS to tire of the genre, though. So I'll probably still get it.

It will be exactly what they have shown so far presumably, a third person Victorian shooter with sacrifices made on gameplay so they can wave their artsy flag. If this is something you want then I can only imagine it will be the greatest shit of all time, and if it isn't your bag of bonkers then it probably won't be that.

I'm excited, but apparantly the only one. I can really enjoy a gentle ride through amazing scenery with great narrative interspersed with some shooting action. But i really need it to be amazing, or i'll be a bit

I will wait a week or two for the first non biased reviews to come out, just to check if they didn't just shit on a piece of plastic and called it a game.

I hope The Order will be good, it has Tesla in it and Tesla guns. I kinda expect it to be alright though. I'll probably buy it, play it, and then sell it though; that's still a huge pro of console gaming, I can buy something Day 1 and it'll only cost me like $10-$15 instead of waiting for discounts.

TPSs are kinda rare. I'm still playing Ghost Recon Future Soldier's MP because it is unfortunately the best TPS MP right now. The only TPS we kinda got last year was Watch Dogs, it's more of an open world/sandbox game as it's not a pure TPS. If The Division and MGS5's MP don't deliver, I really don't even know what the next potential TPS is.

I like third person shooters when they're done well, and the setting and atmosphere of The Order 1886 looks really good. Yes, there's a lot of TPS games around, but this looks like nothing on the market.

I still know nothing about how it plays, but it's another game which might make me get a PS4 sooner rather than later.

None of the footage I have seen makes it look like something special. It will end up being a half decent but undercooked TPS I reckon.

It looks kinda meh. If I really need a Victorian theme game, I just need to wait another month for Bloodborne.

Honestly, I can't stand Steam Punk. Its such an intellectually lazy setting. Its Victorian Sci-fi with Steam powered everything to weakly justify their magic.
So no, I don't think 1886 is gonna be any good. I think it'll be just another bland shooter, barely different from the hundreds of others.

Well to be fair, they have steam gauges and pipes on everything, so I guess I should give it a 15/10, Game of the Year!
