Do you use social networking sites to say things you couldn't say in person?

Or, do you ever send a drunken message, etc that you with you could take back?
I find that I sometimes put my foot in my mouth a lot with social networking sites.
It's a lot easier to use your computer screen as a shield, you can say almost anything you want without a problem. Then the next day, you wish there was a HUGE "undo" button, so you can retract the message you just sent.
Personally I try to stay away from Myspace/Facebook, or even text messaging for that matter while I'm under the influence of something. On more than one occasion I have "proclaimed my love" for a person while drunk, hopelessly romantic, and bored.

Reason I started this topic is because I had a little too much wine last night, and sent a message to my "crush". I sent a message that made absolutely no sense whatsoever and ultimately will make me look like a huge jackass.

No, I tend to speak in much the same manner on networking sites as I would in real life, except I use the phrase 'lol' a lot (like I use it lot on here) in order to express my joy and happiness that I feel.

I actually hold back a little on social networking sites, since you never know if a future employer will see it.

I tend to act online pretty much like I do offline, except I'm more self-conscious about what I say online. Never know who's gonna see it. I don't really use networking sites much. I have some accounts, but I never visit them. I try not to abuse Internet anonymity.

No, i say more in person than on sites, because it just doesn't seem comfortable if there's someone who knows you really well but you don't know them (stalkers) :S.

What I say on facebook is what I want to say in real life, but often don't have the time to come up with. On facebook, I have the luxury of being able to delete stuff I type, take a few minutes to type, and analyze to make sure I didn't forget anything.

i use live journal to yell at people because i'm too lazy to drive to their place and do it. or to call them up. or just because i don't want to see their face or hear their voice. I yell at my best friends girlfriend through it all the time because she feels the need to put up all over her myspace and facebook pages that i'm psycho and a stalker because she and i don't get along. and everytime i've confronted her face to face she starts crying and i laugh at her. personally i'm just tired of seeing her cry. I'm cold hearted it doesn't affect me.

I don't hold back in person though. I'm very assertive and in your face if I have a problem with you. or feel the need to say something. It has cost me quite a few friendships that I held dear at one point but don't anymore.

I tend to be MUCH more reserved on the internet, and livejournal in particular then in real life. And given that I've had giant flashing rainbow marquee text saying 'GARTERS OF DICKS' in my lj, this is an indication of what I am like irl.

On the net I present my best face, my most thought out and funny side. In person, I don't have the luxury of re thinking a post, and am probably funnier but a lot more offensive.

I did once, when my flatmates and I were discussing where we'd be living next year when our contract for this flat runs out. Basically, the others had decided they didn't want me living with them next year as they felt I wasn't quite close enough to the rest of the group (basically I'm quite an independent person). Anyway, I thought it was just two of the group who felt that way, not all nine of the others, so I sent them a message through Facebook telling them what I thought about that and basically saying (politely but firmly) that I wasn't going to take it lying down and that I wasn't just going to let them kick me out without a fuss. Anyway, it got sorted out, it turns out it was a group decision based on the difficulty of finding a ten bedroom student house in Leeds, bt we managed to sort things out and I'll still be living with them all next year since I've recently made more of an effort to be involved with the group :). Anyway, that's my little Facebook story, anyone else got any interesting ones?
