While I like Studio Mir and I think they are a great animation company I feel as if their fight scenes are kinda standard anime fights, you know the ones where the characters move super fast and do fancy filps and stuff. I personally want to see more grounded fight scenes where MMA moves are used(Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai) and I don't care where its from or who the audience is, I'm just kinda tired of characters doing fancy acrobatics and explaining their attacks for 5 minutes(I'm talking about you Baki). Just give me fights where bone connects to flesh, fist connects to liver or face, give me a struggle and don't be afraid to use grapples or holds. Lastman kinda gave me some great grounded fights.

Also here is this clip on youtube which is awesome, though it does have some filps

I like mix. If thngs are too grounded, I get bored. If things are too over-the-top, I get similarly bored.

Big tunts are like sugar. A constant diet of sugar makes you sick, but it's awesome as a treat. I like the over-the-top stuff to be infrequent enough to have some wow factor. If it's all constant epic bigness, then it just becomes a new variety of the same old.

Like person above me said, it depends. With that said, I do dislike shows or the shonen genre in general that copy DBZ or the later arcs of Naruto. Some of my favorite action scenes are either from Western animation or anime movies, shorter anime, or OVA.

See FMA (both version), Avatar: The Last Airbender (Korra has some decent ones, but they get repetitive), almost anything from the DCAU, Redline (combat racing), Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Street Fighter 2: The Animated movie and so on. If you're going to do fantasy or grounded action scenes, have them make sense in their respective shows or universes. But if the action scenes are garbage, doesn't matter if it's more realistic or fantasy, they suc k.Action scene sneed to have good context to the story and especially character(s).

Genddy Tartakovsky is the KING of action/fight scenes in Animation. Even the newest season of Samurai Jack at least had a great one proving he still got it.

I enjoy both.

I can appreciate intricately choreographed arm and leg maneuvers as well as a giant ball of light getting thrown across the screen or characters zipping and zapping "so fast" that you can't see them, provided there is some build up, stakes or story behind it.

It just has to thematically fit with whatever the story is about. I like both if done well. I do like massive fights where planets are punched in the face and mountains chopped in half and so on like in Asura's Wrath the best but it takes a lot of effort to make something like that.

I think a great balance of the two is found in Hitsugi Hime no Chaika where the hero is a Saboteur so he fights with a mix of semi-realistic contraptions and dual wielding blades that have wires in them that let them double as hookshots and trip wires and so on. There's lots of clever stuff and a bit of magic but it all melds really well together.

I like a bit of both.

I mean, I adore Over The Top stuff, but too much of it eventually leads to you getting used to it and no longer being impressed. So some grounded stuff helps keep your expectations reasonable.
