There are two things I dislike about this new Doctor Who series.
The first is how unsubtly the cracks in the wall are being revealed. The current format remains steady at 'Adventure happens, then at the end of the adventure they find a crack in the wall and ponder on it.' It's annoying and predictable. Just once I'd like to see them run past a giant crack in the wall halfway through the episode but not notice it because they are being chased by the giant alien space monster.
The second is how you can't do anything else when they're on except sit and watch Doctor Who. The action flashes by so fast and an incredible amount of techno-babble gets crammed into such a tiny space that if you aren't paying 100% attention for 100% of the time then you miss something crucial. Given that they are usually on around the time I'm trying to prepare and eat dinner, this leads to me knowing very little apart from 'The Doctor has won and there's a crack in the wall.'
That aside I like the characters and think the writing when it isn't just infodumping on us is of a high standard. I like this new Doctor and think now he's starting to find his feet he is going to be comparable favourably to David Tenant. I like Amy Pond though i feel sometimes she gets used more as a plot device than a character, and I think the resolution will of course be gripping and epic and worth staying up late and posting on facebook et al about.
This episode did feel just a little bit meh to me though. This time everything flashed by so fast I didn't even care. Camera work was good though.
