So I just got back from watching the new episodes, and I must say it is my favorite so far. The whole thing wasn't too goofy, and wasn't too dark and the western theme was awesome. I loved that they actually took into consideration the fact that the Doctor sees killing as an option. So yeah, a very good episode and I look forward to next week's.

Post your thoughts below!

It was not quite what I expected, but, I still enjoyed it! Ben Browder was killed off way too early for my liking, I would have liked to have seen a little more action as well. Not the best so far, I leave that for Asylum of the Daleks, but a great stand alone episode. Next weeks looks to be very good though, they are the kind of episodes I like the most and Rory's Dad returns!

I thought it was a great episode but definitely not what I expected. Both my girlfriend and I were pleased they addressed the Doctor's morality since we were wondering about that incident with Solomon last week.

Not entirely sure what next week is about though.

I enjoyed it, but... not that much happened did it?
They arrive, discover the back story, chase sequence involving cyborg, self-destruct. The End.
Would have liked to see more action and intrigue.

Oh yes, I completely agree with this. I like Amy and Rory a lot but they've been on the show a long time and at this point it feels like we've explored every nook and cranny of their characters. I'm hoping for someone(s) different from the usual, maybe not from the 21st century or from a different planet or something to shake up the formula rather than hot 20-something British bird #5 like it probably will be.

OT: Likely my favourite episode of the season so far (though I did like the Dalek one), glad they addressed the whole Doctor morality thing.

It's souffle girl. Or at least, something to do with her, since the actress who played her will be playing the next companion.

-Spoiler deleted so I couldn't read it whilst typing reply-
I appreciate the thought but I'd rather find out via the show when it happens, thanks anyway!

Good episode. Basic, but the characters were well played and the mirrored moral quandary was interesting.

Here it is again. :( What was wrong with Solomon's murder? The Doctor has played an active role in the deaths of dozens. My impression is that he's always found murder a regrettable option, but doesn't hesitate if it means saving many people (and sometimes he doesn't even follow Spock's Law - perfectly willing to let a species live if he knows they'll bring death to billions). It's only guns he hates. Other weapons are fine.

Technically he's been actively involved in the deaths of millions, unless you discount the daleks and timelords :p

I too liked the murky morality going on with the Doctor. It does seem like deep down he is a killer and not necessarily a good guy, but has his personal code to keep him in check. Kinda like what he said in aGMGtW, about good men not needing rules.

Still, I was kinda surprised when he pulled the gun on the other doctor.

Nothing really bad about the episode apart from some seriously dodgy explosion effects at the end.

However, there wasn't really enough to bring the episode up to "good" either, this series is on a roll of perfect mediocrity so far.

Just get rid of Amy and Rory already, preferably throw them into the Time Lock that Gallifrey is in so they can never ever fucking come back again.

This was just yet another rubbishy episode among many other rubbishy episodes that have occurred since Russel T Davis left and Steven 'shitface' Moffat took over

I liked it, I thought the conflict of pragmatism vs idealism was good and well realised, as well as the way each character brought a different idea of what is justice.

riiiiight because ofc Dr Who has never had "rubbishy" episodes before 'shitface' "took over"...

i mean it's not like the series is actually infamous for it or anything...

nope, its been 50 years of constantly steller TV production until 'shitface' got involved.

oh and during Russel T Davis tenure it was flawless. flawless i tell you!

-.-
Ive watched Dr Who since the Tom Baker days (and seen a lot of the older ones too) so i totally agree its always had dodgy episodes. In fact i'm not a massive fan of the Davis era 'reimagining' of the concept.

But since Moffat took over its all been 'whizz-bang zap!'

Which is to say its been simplified and aimed more and more at younger children with a short attention span. Any flashes of intelligence and storytelling have been whittled away since Shitface took charge and to my mind the show has suffered badly from it.

Also Amy and Rory are the most annoying companions ever, i want to spit every time that pair get to lecture a guy who has been around nearly 1000 years

*EDIT* Sorry Orangeban, originally quoted you instead of Sleekit by mistake, I blame the cider

"Shitface"'s episodes were usually the best ones during the Russel T Davies era.

I've outgrown most Doctor Who - not an age thing, more of a taste thing - but some of Moffat's old episodes are still pretty special.

You bring up a good point, yes as a writer the guy rocked, but now he's in charge its like the wheels have fallen off. I actually remember being quite pleased when i first heard he was taking over. Maybe i'm being unfair to the guy and he's getting pressure from the BBC to make it more kid-friendly.

Honestly i wouldn't put it past them...
