Long story made short

My eye was having a lot of problems (still is) I went to the doctor to see what was wrong with it, she just glanced at it, told me "you have pink eye" charged us the $200 for the "diagnosis" then sent us on our way.

Well, I can say for a fact that I DON'T have pink eye, there's only 1 strip of pink, it's not spreading, it burns, it's losing sight, it's not goopy or crusty like pink eye either

Sorry if that ending was a rant, just wondering if doctors suck like this in other countrys

Too Long? AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SUCKS

I'll agree, lots of doctors here are fucking terrible.

Actually... I've never once had a good experience with a doctor. >>

They've all been either extremely cruel, short tempered or they'll make a diagnosis by simply glancing at someone. Maybe it's just the area I live in...

The Doctors over here just make you wait several hours for a diagnosis, thanks to National Healthcare they tend not to charge us for the privilege of being sick.

Some of them may try to kill you though.

Hmmmm.... Are you in favor for Obama's idea for a National Health Care like in England?

As for quality, that is inexcusable.

Okay one bad doctor does not a bad healthcare system make. In other words doctor competence does not correlate with a bad healthcare system. You can find bad doctors in any country.

well I figure shamans would suck.
patient: well doc I have this bad stomach ache
shaman: ok, take these colorful mushrooms, if you see the angry spirits of every animal or plant you've ever killed and the walls start melting, it means it's working.

Don't you get pink eye from having someone fart on your pillow, then you sleep with your face in it (hopefully unknowingly...)?

When I went to University I was told by my GP (whom is very good) that I had to switch to a doctor at uni. I randomly chose one and it's absolutely god-awful! As is the hospital in my uni town. My mates dad, who works for the NHS, said that if ever he got ill or injured, my mate should find another hospital to go to because the one at our uni is notoriously terrible

Also American health care system is the one thing that makes me concerned about moving to New York. Regardless, I'm still doing it

Find a friend who's a doctor, or has training in medicine, and get advice from them whenever you have a problem. That way, you at least won't have to pay just to get a diagnosis.
My older sister is a registered nurse (4 years of college), so I call her whenever I think there's something wrong. (minor stuff- sprained ankle, etc.) She calls me with carpentry and home improvement related questions, so I consider us even.

Doctors are just like members of any other profession. if they don't care what they're doing, they're going to do a half-assed job and give you s***ty service. sounds like your doctor is a teenager who was 5 minutes overdue for her smoke break.

My daughter(not blood related) was having pains in her belly so I took her to the doctor. Doctor says that she needs to get surgery my daughter passes out because she was so scared. Took her to another doctor for a second opinion "oh she just has gas tell her to take these and she'll be fine" so I follow his advise and she gets better so I got to save money and she didnt need surgery...

This one's not specifically a bad Doctor, but a bad person.
Dr. P as I shall call him, was one of the worst people you will ever meet.
Not ever in the world of history and time-space, but still a pretty bad guy.
Every time I went to him, he'd always find some way to poke fun at me or my family, even if we had serious problems about it. However, we couldn't switch doctors as that would be incredibly difficult as me and my family had a long history of developing illnesses that Dr. P was the only one who knew it all.
Then, one day, when I was leaving the office, I stopped to do up my shoe lace while the next patient went in, and she was biiiiiiiiiiig.
However, Dr. P just started laughing for about 5 minutes >.>

I went to see a doctor because I was getting some test results back. Fortunately there was nothing wrong but my doctor was so cruel about it, she gave me no useful advice and was very very rude to me. I told her I was still in a lot of pain but she said it wasn't a problem and that I'll be okay. Nothing's wrong - so why am I still in pain then??
The problem was her name is Dr Bowser so I feel I can't hold a grudge. But still, I really don't like the woman.

Well, there was this one Doctor that showed up at my house one day with an english accent and somehow was able to get into my house using some sort of screwdriver. After he spotted me, he started talking really fast about aliens or something, then stole a whole bunch of medical equipment from my first aid kit before running off into a "police box" he somehow parked on my lawn. Although I don't really think he was a doctor, after all shouldn't they already have medical supplies?

She was in her 40s... the smoke break I've no clue... but likely considering I live in Humboldt County (now what she smokes is up to you to figure out)

Yeah, however I did have a great experience with MY doctor, Dr. Cody

out of the 8 or 9 doctors we've seen (back then) he was the only one that said "Yup, he has asthma alright" and ended up saving my life. All the others though seem like they just want to get paid...

I even had one nurse that I got fired because of what she pulled

I had a cyst growing off of a cyst, and in her ultra-sound she told me it was a parasite that could be spreading and pulled some crap like I had "1 year to live" and I freaked out, apparently she was watching too many medical TV shows and thought she knew what she was talking about

(oh and yes she was blond)

Yeah, I can pretty much own the terrible doctor stories, but it concerns....ah.....a sensitive area. More specifically, my...well....front exit.

So, a few months back, a blood test revealed that I had Stage 3(of 5) kidney disease. They determined that my bladder wasn't emptying completely, so they figured the first order of business was to...well....use a cath. Basically, they wanted me to pee through a tube for about 2-3 weeks. I was understandably unenthusiastic. So they go and try to...insert...the cath(which, by the way is a reeeealy uncomfortable, even painful, process), but can't do it for some reason.

So they schedule another appointment at a different hospital a few days later, refusing to tell me what it's for. I get to the waiting room, and a random woman pops in the door and says, and I quote, "OK, drop those pants and let's get you numbed up." I swear to god, that's exactly what she said.

So I refused, and the went to go get the actual doctor. I tell him I hate this whole cathing business. I even use the word "terrified",(keep in mind I'm trusting this info with a complete stranger.) And he takes this opportunity to tell me about a procedure that I "don't need to go through right now, but might in the future" wherein (get ready, this is pretty gross) they put a camera in the front exit, and a something he described as a "plug" in the rear exit. Oh, and I'd have to be awake the whole time. I'm not even kidding. I wouldn't want to hear about something like this EVER, much less while talking about cathing.

And guess what? I didn't even NEED to cath. I just peed more often, and got rid of the kidney disease on my own. But even after cathing had been proven unnecessary, he STILL wanted to do it just to satisfy his curiosity. Seriously, that's what he said. I switched doctors after that.

And if any of that made you uncomfortable, just think about how I feel.

I've never had a bad doctor, in fact the area where I live has really good doctors. I've had some really annoying/creepy doctors. My first one would always, ALWAYS, without fail tell me how many years he went to school (last time I saw him, it was up to 26). One time I had a physical from a doctor that must have been 60 or 70, he tried acting like a teenager, and he smiled really creepily when he was touching me. Needless to say, I never went back to him.

I haven't come across one bad doctor, plus I don't have to pay a lot of money for anything either.

Thank you NHS:)

Docs here are pretty good, but we don't have many doctors. I live in Montreal, and while McGill University isn't as good as Yale, it's dirt cheap in comparrison, even with the foreign student fee applied to Americans.

So doctors come up here, get their diploma, and then fuck off back to the states where they grow filthy fucking rich because you have no healthcare down there...
