Check out people like Chick Corea, Keith Jarret, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, Richard Bona, Django Reinhardt, Miles Davis etc.

It's hard to introduce someone to jazz, because the genre is just so vast. Just look stuff up on youtube and the likes. You'll certainly find stuff you like.

Above posters have said most of the big names in the history of jazz. I'd like to add The Bad Plus, which is a modern group which has a lot of rock influence in their dynamics but has the jazz instrumentation of piano/stand-up bass/drums. They cover a lot of rock classics (Smells like Teen Spirit, Tom Sawyer), but their original pieces are fantastic as well. My personal favorite below
