No.
Real Violence is caused by Bad Parenting and Mental Sickness.
Games don't kill people, people kill people.

We have this every week, and we always say for the majority of people, like 99% of gamers do not get violent.

Trying to stop someone from doing anything they want to do could end in a violent reaction. "Son, time to come inside! Son, don't light the drapes on fire! Son, I know what you're doing in the bathroom!"

Idiots look for any excuse to say gaming causes violence. It doesn't.

These people are already mentally disturbed before ever picking up a game. Blame them and the parents.

I think gaming doesn't cause violence. But being completely obsessed with video games can be a symptom of other problems in a gamer's life??I remember when I was depressed, I spent hours gaming instead of doing homework or seeing friends. After I switched schools, my gaming hours became more reasonable.

This, in order for someone to be violent they must have the a violent mindset, that can't be gained through playing games.

I'd like to point out some specific statements that some people over looked.

that violent games may lead to violent behavior in certain children.
See that it says certain children, not all of them.

addiction to video games is more common than we'd like to think, and could be a sign that something else might be wrong with your child
Another line everybody seems to be missing.

This article is blaming video games entirely, it is just stating that some kids will react poorly to animated violence, as the events on the new proves.

Exactly this. It is already a known fact that serial killers, rapists, etc. seek out a medium to allow them to fulfill their fantasies. Once that no longer thrills them they move on to actually committing the deed. Thus it isn't that violence media causes it but in fact keeps it from happening sooner.

I think people can get addicted and lash out like any other person who is addicted to something and some one is trying to take it away. But that wouldn't necessarily mean that gaming is the sole thing that causes real life violence, it is that it can be an addictive objects like many things.
Also, I wouldn't take anything from AOL as a credible source of information.
Considering:
"Add to this that the Washington DC sniper, Lee Boyd Malvo, played Halo regularly and the Columbine shooters were huge Doom fans, and you're left with an idea that violent games may lead to violent behavior in certain children."
The article is giving some support to saying that addictive things can cause violent behavior, and video games can be addictive, but then tries to sensationalize it by tacking that on and making to appear that all games cause violence. Despite the fact that no one way telling the washington sniper or the Columbine shooters to stop playing games and that there were far greater problems associated with both cases. In my opinion the the writer shot themselves in the foot by showing they are no more credible than an overly ambitious blogger.

1) This. [http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1915521]

2) Approximately 160 million people play computer and video games. Two of them killed somebody. That means that if you meet someone who plays video games, you have a 99.9999999875% chance of staying alive. I'll personally take my chances with that. Don't think I'm a total daredevil, though. That's the same chance I have of not getting hit by a lightning bolt riding a batmobile made out of winning lottery tickets.

Well although it can't directly cause it, studies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobo_doll_experiment) have shown that children will imitate behaviour if they identify with the role model. Effects can be short lived and hard to generalise but they are there so being exposed to violence from a young age and fairly constantly could lead to it. They may also learn specific aggressive behaviours that they only could've gained through video games.

It would be ignorant to say all violence was entirely bad parenting or mental sickness. its in human nature, and all things nature to be violent.

If we're talking environmental, and not inherited causes of violent behavior then your spot on.

But yeah if your superstitious, or just genrally a moron blame god, the devil, computergames, women, gays, etc.
