Does it seem like Lulzsec is particularly fond of attacking "gamers"?

I've noticed that alot of the targets Lulzsec attack (Eve,LoL, WoW(Partly), Sony, Microsoft(Supposedly), etc etc) are video games or services people who play video games use. So I have to ask escapists, are they motivated(By lulz or some other form) to attack "gamers", or is it just a really big coincidence?

Shrug.

I'm just looking forward to see how much further Jester goes with releasing details about them.

Well they did attack porn sites too. While it's highly likely that pretty much all gamers use them to some degree, I wouldn't say it's a staple of being a gamer :p

Hell, 55 government email addresses found in that hack

I'm sorry but isn't it a bit obvious?

They want 'lulz' on the internet, the most internet users who also frequent forums and whatnot are gamers, so they annoy gamers to get their 'lulz'.:)

EDIT: Sorry if this sounds condescending, I didn't mean to :)

I'd say they just like attacking the internet in general. And there's a lot of gamers on the internet.

It looks like they are, sure, but I think the biggest problem with them is they are claiming to be working to help these corpirations they attack by stealing their clients details then posting them. Infact not harming said corpiration, but harming the users of them. Do I want my details kept secure by the companies I give them to and all possiable avenues to get to them found and blocked? Yes. Do I want these avenues found and blocked only after my information has been stolen and put on the web for anyone who want to use it to steal my identintity? No.

These guys need to stop hiding under the claim they are doing this 'for the publics good' and come right out and say they are doing for the Lulz. Anon may do the same essentially, but I'm yet to hear of them printing the details of innocent 'civilians' all over the net.

They probably move in the same circles online as gamers, and it doesn't take very long to figure out the fact that a butthurt [I loathe using that word, but it's appropriate in this context] gamer can be very amusing indeed. I mean, this is a group of people who often have heated arguments about fictional characters or the comparative merits of consumer electronics. Riling them up is probably very tempting.

What puzzles me a bit is that *most* peeps with networking tech skills ARE gamers... IE: if someone said 90% of lulzsec found to be gamers, that would make sense to me...

Which is why I don't really get why they're shitting in the nest, so to speak. I don't really have strong feelings about what they do, either way, but I'll admit I don't "get" their schtick, though the top hat rageface logo is cool.

Maybe they were talking and thought something like "Sticking it to the MAN will just make us seem like Anons. Let's stick it to EVERYONE"... and 'lo thus was everyone stuck.

I dunno. Just thinking out my ass.

I believe its because gamers provide the biggest lulz, we get very pissy in forums when things don't go our way and are very protective of our favorites. I'm sure these guys are gamers wanting to protest but of course they do this in the most dickish way imaginable. They also selectively attack video gaming targets, they actually offered to hunt down who ever hacked sega. They are probably in their 30's and consider certain new developments in the gaming industry as fucked up. So fuck everybody who doesn't agree with you or have their specific best interests at heart.

The gamer community is more likely to be involved in internet culture so they would actually realised who hacked them and rage about it unlike random people on facebook who would probably just forget about it.

I think they're just fond of attacking anyone and anything. They don't actually care, they're doing it for a laugh as their name suggests. I think gamers provide the biggest entertainment for them, they hack something to do with gaming and we start getting pissy about it on forums. They see it get a laugh out of it, they know it annoys us so they continue to do it.

I don't think they are targeting a particular demographic of people, I would say they are fairly indiscriminate in who they target. Didn't they manage to hack the FBI and the CIA? I would say they just hack whoever they feel like really.

Part of brain says they're HoN fans if only LoL was attacked in the MOBA genre that's been posted. But that's a part of me I tell to shut up and go sit in a corner. But this dickishness goes too far. Hopefully Jester or whoever gives them the treatment that will make them beg to whatever court that they're insane and should not be guilty.
