Does metro 2033 work on steam?

So im looking for a good horror based fps on steam, and metro 2033 looks really good, but a friend of mine is swearing up and down that it doesn't work for shit and that i should get one of the STALKER games (which don't look particularly interesting to me) instead. Has anyone played it recently and knows?

I never had a problem with Metro, and its a great game. Go for it. Also, STALKER is a great game as well, and they're dirt cheap right now.

no probs on steam eh? thats good. idk i see stalker in the vids and such and it just doesn't look that appealing. not really sure why =P

No problems at all for me, but I also don't think it's a horror game. It has a few intense moments, but it's never scary. STALKER: CoP had a few more scary moments than Metro for me, but even then it's not that bad. I mean if you want a horror game, try Penumbra and Amnesia. They are first person, though not shooters.

It works fine on steam. Only problem I had was the game crashing at the Depot and I don?t think steam has any bearing on that. It?s not really what I would class a horror game tho. Its tense not terrifying.

Runs fine, I had to restart it three times to get all the settings working, but it works fine =D

Metro 2033 does work and is a good game, along with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat, it's just...I wouldn't use the word "horror" to describe them. Apocolyptic perhaps?

Shadow of Chernobyl was made first, and it's the one I have. Can't judge on Call of Pripyat, although you can get them both for cheap here. Also, if you are looking for a first-person horror game, you can't do better than Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
