For me it does. It also makes me more energetic and happier. What about you all? Does music have any effect on you or how you feel?

I use it primarily for passing the time. I mostly listen to music while going to/from places (school, primarily), or when exercising. It helps me not feel so bored. I wouldn't say it really does anything more than that. I enjoy it, and sometimes that alone can lift my mood, but I rarely listen to it exclusively for that purpose.

Of course! One does not listen to Reach Out to the Truth and not feel badass afterwards!

I'll be honest, not really. It seems to only ever have the opposite effect on me.
I'm kind of wiry that way.
Not to say I don;t listen to soft/soothing ect music, it just doesn't alter my mood as directly as other music does.

I do sleep much easier if I'm listening to something soft or new age (Ray Lynch, Enya, Naturequest, etc.). And working out goes much, much more smoothly when it's done to the Blazblue soundtrack.

So...yeah, pretty much.

So basically you mostly listen to it for preventing boredom eh? Thats what I do as well, but beyond that it also makes me more relaxed and entertained while doing other things. To be honest I never just listen to music without doing anything else. I only listen to music while doing something else at the same time. For example....Playing a video game that has no music or sound. I like these kind of games, it makes me be able to listen to my own music while playing it. Though I guess I could also mute a game's music and listen to my own as well.....though I rarely do that. Most games that I play have good music, which fits the gameplay and all that. So therefore certain games dont go well if you listen to your own music while playing them.

Eheheheh, sorry if I went too far with this though.

Depends on the music but yes, sometimes I ven get "high" on music like I'll be unexplainably happy and spewing nonesense, it seems to make me reveal more stuff on the Internet, so if whenever I reveal personal information, there's a really big chance I was listening to music at that moment.

Aha, thats interesting, I also get "high" as you're saying from music sometimes but I dont let it make me reveal things about myself to other people. To be honest, if it makes you do that then thats probably a bad thing, as it makes you lose control of yourself basically.

Yeah but, I need something in the background while I'm browsing the web, besides it's not always, just when I listen to it for hours.

Without a doubt. Music can do anything to me, provided it's the right song.

Depend on the music itself in which case calm and relaxing like music does make me calmer.

I listen to music pretty much constantly, provided I'm not doing something where I need to hear or concentrate. Yeah, finding music that matches my mood makes me feel better, even a bad mood. I feel a lot less angry after I listen to Slipknot for a bit, and less depressed after I listen to Nine Inch Nails and so on. There's just something brilliant about listening to a particular piece of music or a lyric and being able to say 'that, that is exactly how I feel right now'.
The only times when I've found I don't want to be listening to music are the lowest of the low points in my life, where I've tried to listen to something downbeat, but it's just not cut it and I've had to turn it off. Thankfully that's not often.

I listen to many different varieties of music frequently and for many reasons. I'll listen to pump up music for when I'm working out, classic rock for when I'm chilling or relaxing soundtrack music if I'm reading or catching a nap.

Yes, very much.

When I'm in a good mood, I'll often whistle 90s Alternative, 80s Rock, Japanese Pop, or Swing/Big Band/Dixie Land/Ragtime Jazz. When I'm in a bad mood, I listen to Chiptunes, Goa/Psy, Bubblegum Trance, Para-Para, 90s Dance, Korean/Russian Techno, or Happy Hardcore to perk up.

I also choose music depending on what I have in mind or plan to do. Working out music is very different from stuff I listen to when I work.

Different songs for different settings pretty much.

If I want to work, I'll put baroque or Jpop on.
If I'm FPS-ing, I'll put whatever rock music I have.
If I'm reading, I'll listen to classical/romantic.

Always makes me feel better. Sometimes it is just whatever pops up in my mind to look up on youtube, but some music i save for different times.
Disturbed i find to be great music when making my homework, helps me focus.
I've lately also developed the habit of falling asleep while Shinedown is playing after a Saturday night out.

Guys. Does different genres of music make you feel differently depending on the genre you're listening?

For me, if I listen to Metal or ROck music for example, I feel much sharper and energetic. And if I listen to something soft like classical music anc such, I feel more relaxed and happier.

Does it work that way for you guys as well?
