I really liked the first game, so I assumed I'd like the 2nd - but I'm so bored with it. I'm up to that bit where Reni is hiding from the monster and I just don't have force of will to continue. Since I paid for it, I would like keep going - but not if it's like this the whole game. I'm just not captured by the story or gameplay at all? Does it get better?

Gameplay wise? No. Story wise? That's pretty subjective. I did enjoy parts of it, but overall I found Silence to be much weaker than The Whispered World (and far, far weaker than other stuff Daedalic has made). Which is a pity, but them's the breaks sometimes.

Short answer, no, is a very mediocre game which made me sad, because I liked the first game......
For a normal answer.....well....it have many tiny annoyings things which made at some part hate the game.
Let me make a list:
- The voice acting is weird and without energy. Specifically the voice of the little annoying and made cringe hard.
- It have a really serious problem with the flow of its story. At some point some dialogs don't have a natural flow and are really fast. Some other times they just plain boring...
- The puzzles are criminally easier, not only that...
- The puzzles are time wasters. For example, a whole segment in the game happens just because the protagonist couldn't reach a ledge...
- Finally the ending is an insult to the old fans of the series. For me anyway.
Don't worry, the ending is "fine", but if you expect more that first game, then don't bother.

If I had to give it a score, it would be a 5/10....
