So anyway, hoo-fucking-ray for this dog, no? I just LOVE stories like these. As mentioned, this is perhaps the one thing I get teary eyed about and am not ashamed to admit it. Hearing about animals saving people from various dangers warms my heart.

Having any other links anyone? Or stories, whatever.

and come on... who else man-cries? Coooommmeee onnn....

Edit - ok, people are taking my wayyy too literally. I'm not saying I sat in my cubicle and balled my eyes out but I got a tear.

Edit 2 - Jesus, aforementioned tear was of the happy kind, not the sad kind.

I the last time i cried was two years ago...and that was other relationship issues. Before that, the last time i had cried was at my grandfarthers funeral, almost ten years ago. There have been many times when i felt like crying, or even wanted to cry, but nope- i just don't.

The Op's story was heart-warming and made me feel like crying for the poor brave doggie...
If i find any heart warming stories, i'll post a link.

If only it was a story about a boy saving a dog in this kind of manner. That might actually get me shedding some manly tears.

Truely awesome story, and a happy ending too.

The thing that concerns me though is that while Cougars can be quite dangerous, I believe they tend to avoid people. Also labs get to be like over a hundred pounds, and while Cougars are tougher (typically, depends on size of course) it can still be a craps shoot, and like many cats they don't generally fight things that are around their own size from what little I know.

The fact that this happens makes me think that the local Cougar population might be starving for some reason, or being chased out of their normal stomping grounds. That's something to look into because large, desperate, kitties are not fun for people, not to mention what else might be going on.

Down her in Connecticut we have these things called "Fisher Cats" which are truely, truely nasty. They were thought to be extinct but the population is building and they tend to be very aggressive and fearless of people and animals. As much as a problem they are themselves, they are also chasing animals out of their normal territory.

Differant climate, but it's something the local authorities should look into, even in an isolated area. If the Cougar was for example willing to dispute the territory of a large dog, one has to wonder what is in it's territory (or if it's a food shortage). If say a bear moved in or something, knowing that there is now a bear in your area is a good thing before it decides to show up during the next firewood haul. :p

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww that dog is so cute! anyway, a really touching story with a happy ending for once. I really do want to know what made an attractive older women attack a dog and a boy bu... hold on, braking news: that wasn't funny to anyone.

It was good that the poor boy is alive and well, but I don't know whats so sad about that. I would cry if he have died (maybe not). But why cry if he's alive. I certainly cry when bad things happen, like in The Fox and the Hound, because it's really quite a sad story. I simply don't get why you cried man-tears?
pls see op again...

sigh...

Sorry but i have heard worse even worse (i'll edit when i fish out the worst one i once read). Yes i love these stories but ones like this don't make me cry. Its the one's where the animal dies saving a human that makes me cry. Yes the dog almost died but its not quite the same.

Although I didn't cry about this story, though it was still touching. I did cry my eyes out watching that really grateful kid who got an XBox360.
