Has anyone had this problem lately? Right now, whenever I start up Doom 3 and am 45 mins or so into the game (windowed mode), it'll crash with an Access Violation error EVERY FUCKING TIME. Looking online endlessly turns up nothing. Apparently I'm the ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD who has this problem. The only clue I have is the "faulting module path" which points to both doom3.exe and ig75icd32.dll in the event viewer. The latter's path doesn't exist. I even found a copy of the latter with the same version as my current gfx drivers and put it in but it still crashes with the same error and the same faulting module.

I have updated my gfx drivers to the latest OEM versions (v4432) although I have yet to try the stock Intel drivers (v4578).

Manufacturer: Hewlett Packard
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
RAM: 4 GB
Processor: Intel Core i5 4200M
GFX Card: Intel HD Graphics 4600
Storage: 500 GB HDD

Are you playing this on steam? Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache? Sounds like you might be missing some files that you need to redownload.

Googled your problem, came up with the following:

Access violation error meaning :

"If you have been getting the access violation at address error, it means that the software on your system tried to access a protected memory address. The memory address which is protected should not be accessed by the program you are trying to run, except for the program that is currently using it"

Solution :

http://www.tomsguide.com/faq/id-2119014/fix-access-violation-address-error.html

An Access Violation can be caused by a lot of stuff and isnt a problem easy to fix for people who cannot be infront of your PC.

This is like a car not starting and trying to fix that on the phone for a car mechanic. It's one of these problem where you have to look at a couple of place to find the problem and isnt something you go "Oh yeah it's there" directly.

i suggest you google "Access Violation error" and read the couple first pages and try their solutions. Start by that tomsguide link.

My recommendations :

- Desinstall your GPU drivers with DDU and reinstall the latest drivers.
- Install the redist inside your Doom's / redist folder.
- Verify the integrity of the game cache on steam
- Turn off steam overlay
- Turn off Geforce Experience optimization if you have it

Actually I think I FINALLY solved it. I made these changes in DoomConfig.cfg

Set com_videoRam from 128 to 2048 (If I had to guess, this being at a mere 128 was the problem.)
Changed r_renderer from best to arb2
Changed r_mode from 4 to -1

I'll still need to test it further, but I did a test playthrough from the start of the game and survived all the way to Alpha Labs Sector 4 in one playthrough (Then I died. Fuck Trites.) without crashing at all.

As to verifying the game cache, yes I did that. Heck, this error has happened with three totally separate copies of the game on this computer, including my edition of it on Steam.
