I noticed some of these comments when I first saw the demo but didn't think much of it. I wonder if they will be forced to remove or alter the npc commentary once enough people become offended.

Some of the most recent comments [https://i.imgur.com/13o1z65.jpg] appear to embrace it.

You know that "mortally challenged" joke is pretty much the same as from an episode of The Simpsons back in the early 90's when Bart claims zombies prefer to be called the living impaired, so as not to hurt their feelings.

This humor appears to be the standard satire of showing a power hungry corporation act like the horrible things it does is all just peachy and nothing to worry about to keep up a public image.

So yeah, I'm not seeing the correlation here, but then I'm not one of those people who make a video everytime a supposed "SJW" sneezes.

I'm with you. Its a joke, like the PA reminders in Bioshock reminding you to have a pleasant and nice time in the Gardens of Rapture, all the while you're mowing down drugged out mask wearing lunatics.
Its the juxtaposition of the situation. A blood covered hell demon just rips a man in half, and the friendly PA woman say its all just a simple misunderstanding and they can have a work retreat to collectively envision a management process where all parties are equally heard and appreciated. And you laugh because that's the same corporate bullshit we all hear every day, yet now we get to slaughter demons.

Yeah its a classic Us vs Them trope, and yeah that can be interpreted to represent immigration, but it can mean a whole host of other things. Sports teams for example. Whose to say its not a clever parody of the national hate for the Patriots and their deflated balls?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I look forward to all the reactionary morons lose their shit when things like that get removed since id doesn't want the association with them.

Its not even really a thing till they made it a thing. At worse people were like "thats a weird line." And it is a weird line, but only idiots cared.

For a bit of education on basic business practices. Until you actually sell your product, its losing money because you're spending money to produce/distribute it without getting any back from selling it.

Agreed. He sounds like a smug, arrogant, jackoff. I don't why people are bothering with either side. I care only for the gameplay. The game is obviously neither "pro/anti" sjw. It's just a joke some people are overreacting too, with others defending the joke, also overreacting.

Sounds to me like just an obvious joke about a corporation trying to make light of an apocalyptic situation. It's far from the first game to do something similar and it will probably not be the last.

I'm playing through Dead Rising 2 now, and that game has entire organization pushing "zombies are people too" narrative.

The whole thing is reaching. If anything, it struck me as demons having somehow hijacked the PA system, as if to go "ha ha, we've won, we get to laugh, suck it measly humans!"

In the context of DR2, I think it's pretty reasonable. Every zombie is a former human, and this is a world where it's possible to at least keep the infection in check. The idea that zombies should be protected does carry weight in as much that they're infected humans, that every zombie killed in the show Chuck participates in is one that will never be able to come back.

I'm pretty sure it was a blatantly anti-capitalist game.

I mean the real bad guy is Samuel Hayden ... How bleeding obvious do they have to make it?

Quite clearly the UAC are run by garbage people co-opting corporate culture to excuse the fact that they have literally invited the apocalypse.

Why exactly is this controversy again? Is this a case of the alt-right being stupid again?

I consider myself at least a L12 Social Justice Bard.

Kinda, looks like a few people commented that they didn't care for the joke and suddenly everybody on the left side of politics is rioting in the streets about it. Cause you know, logic prevails!

That's funny, I would have thought the alt-right would be more annoyed by id Software insinuating Satan is a white, rich dude.

I think once they start turning smelly and rotten(like most zombies you encounter are), you can safely write them off as an ex-person. Keeping disease in check is a lot easier than basicly ressurecting the dead.

You mean Samual Hayden? S. Hayden? Satan?

TBH, I think that's a stretch. Hayden has plenty of blood on his hands, but he's not Satan, and actually helps the Doom Slayer fight the demons. Hardly a good person, but not exactly the Prince of Evil either.
