Finally, the combat feels like i'm actually participating and having an actual EFFECT on the battle instead of it seeming like it relies on random chance if i didn't spend a billion hours just building everything "properly".

plus, the game looks better, not just generic "fantasy" and boring-looking combat. i like the new aesthetics, and it looks like the game it finally trying to be its own thing instead of like every other fantasy game.

overall... LOVING the improvements on the combat, it's just... better.

ESPECIALLY without all that bullshit "closing to attack range" that got me stuck behind rocks and killed so many damn times...

I don't know, it was exactly like Origins, just faster. You click on the dude your attacking, and Hawke attacks them with standard attacks, and you can select powers from the bar at the bottom.

I just wish the [sub]loading...[/sub] thing wasn't in the demo. That shit's annoying.

That was the one thing that annoyed me about the Dragon Age 2 Demo. It had to load for just about everything, stopping in the middle of the action to load something. I hope the full game isn't like that.

Personally i loved Origins, but i think that 2's combat system is quite the step up for Xbox 360/PS3 gamers.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins, but I also love the changes BioWare made, especially the new conversation system :D

I wasn't too happy when I first heard about how they were dramatically changing Dragon Age making it more like Mass Effect, but from what I've heard about the demo it sounds like an improvement. Downloading it right now.

Did you hit your head when you were a child?

or did you start playing games within the last year?

Getting stuck behind rocks -.o
it was the fact that i would press the button to attack or use one of my abilities i would automatically move towards the enemy and, somehow, my character would get stuck behind small obstacles...

I personally hate the new look of things and the battle animations. Origins had realistic combat, people moved like people. They weren't doing impossible back flips or cutting five enemies in half with one swing.

That was just plain disgusting to watch. Not to mention I get the feeling all the cheap effects when striking with a sword was just a 'smoke screen' to hide a properly done animation.

Oh well, still can't wait to get my hands on the game, hopefully the blood mage tree is still in there, and playable > . >

I love it. The only thing that pisses me off is that if you zoom out to the overhead view with the mouse, zooming back in just gives you a closer overhead view, it doesn't bring you back to the "behind character" view. I'm thinking the camera would be better with a controller but I wouldn't want to use one because everything else wouldn't function as well. Other than that it's great, and overall much better than origins.

Really? you call the mmorpg-esque saunter over for stationary air swings and nut-kicks realistic? Not to mention as previously mentioned, waiting for years for your character to get their footing 'just right' before deciding it was time to halfheartedly stab that werewolf doing an overwhelm on the healer.

My point was that characters didn't act like freaking Saiyans. The rogue is especially guilt of this. That worries me because the Rogue is the class I go with in games.

while ill admit it was annoying having my rouge stand there like a jackass because the enemy moved slightly to the left, as the above poster put it, having them jump around like super saiyans is about 300 kinds of overcompensating. the combat flows better, but thats the only thing thats better. the animations look like they so badly want to be devil may cry and so badly fail. bioware apparently thought ending every fight completely covered in blood wasnt over the top enough so now everyone explodes into blood pools upon death; the darkspawn look like geriatric clowns, the ogre looks like a smiling doofus, and flemeth looks like a disney villian. whatever improvements might be had, i just cannot for the life of me get over these countless horrible design changes. da2 may very well be a fine and dandy sequel, but ill never know because i have to cringe at the screen every five seconds, and just cant enjoy the game because of it.

Whats with the comparisons to Super Sayins? The Mage is closer to the Sayin than the Rogue. The Rogues don't move as fast as Sayins either. Or fly. OR CHANGE THEIR HAIR YELLOW ON A WHIM!

Really? You thought the graphics were a step up? All I saw was grey, grey, grey, and sandstone.

I really enjoyed the demo, had some trouble with the dialogue though. I definitely prefer the combat now, probably because it's easier for a 360 gamer. I wasn't really bothered by graphics or animations, possibly because I'm blind or inattentive.

They just switched it to an action RPG, so let's call it different (for those that prefer action it will be better, for others it might not)
