Driven away from CoD4

So here's a situation I never thought I'd be in; I'm being driven away from playing multiplayer CoD4 (the first modern warfare, not the second). See, being in the UK limits the number of servers I can play on; I like to play team deathmatch on harcore settings, which narrows it down to a half dozen or so servers that actually have regular populations. Unfortunately for me (apparently), I'm pretty good at the game, probably not to a professional level or anything, but I top the scoreboard 90% of the time quite comfortably.

My problem is that of the few servers I enjoy tearing up, most are owned (or at least, run) by one particular overzealous clan. I've been accused of hacking many times. Dozens probably. I don't hack, I never have, and my GUID is in good standing with punkbuster; it's a bit hurtful to be falsely accused, but the stigma has all but entirely worn off on me. I'll typically try to reason with my accuser, because I don't really like being seen as a cheat. I've been temporarily banned numerous times, I'd say it must be somewhere in the double digits by now, but I find myself rejoining those same servers a few days later simply because there's not really anywhere else to play CoD4.

Today my half-hour gaming session was ended early, a similar situation, but this time I wasn't banned; I was -driven- from the server. The clan members hurled their accusations along with a plethora of abuse at me. I tried to reason at first, and they merely quoted some transparently false proof before reverting to more abuse, and it was genuinely upsetting. I've seen the same group do it before to innocent players, treating their server as grounds for a witch hunt against potential hackers.

At very least I suppose, I think I need to find a new fps game that I can actually play without this treatment. Recommendations would be welcome, and maybe some input on how to handle this sort of situation.

Apologies if this post is kinda long, but I guess I want to explain it as comprehensively as possible.

I had the same problem when I played Counter Strike. I recall being banned many a time for "aim botting". I recall on de_aztec as terrorist I would rush out the double doors to the left, and pick off like 3 or 4 people coming out the double doors on the opposite side. I'd precisely aim at their heads and fire off single shots with the AK-47. Apparently anyone who understands recoil must be a hacker.

When accused I'd simply laugh at them and take it as a compliment. If I'm doing so good that I "must be hacking" I must be playing pretty well.

I could however see it as a problem if there wasn't a good amount of servers to choose from. Makes me angry at hackers for a different reason than typical. Since hackers do exist 99 percent of people accused of hacking are likely not. That 1 percent, probably lower, ruin it for everyone.

Don't let them get to you bro. I adore owning clans cause as you know they get very very upset lol, if the abuse continues just laugh it off and hit the report button, don't let them drive you away multiplayer is for everyone, its only a game in the end :))))

Question, was it "Convict Gaming?"
The clan in question was SSD; it took no more than 30 seconds of searching to discover a number of forum posts on the forums of gaming deluxe, who they rented one of their servers from, of similiar situations, and other upset people.

This is the first CoD4; I haven't played MW2 online. In this game, there is no report button.

I used to think this way. I used to grin to myself with pride when I saw the temp ban appear. Now it's just unpleasant though. I just want to play the game, not see a torrent of names and stuff directed at me.

There are very few hackers in most modern games that I've come across, but peoples' paranoia about them is of critically excessive proportions.

Nah you don't need to go anywhere.

What it sounds like to me is that the server you didn't get banned on is nothing but greifers, just flaming people outside of the clan with no real justification.
I wouldn't pay them much mind.

However I would advise using the in game mute feature and just have fun destroying them until they do kick and ban you.
It's what I'd do in the situation. (Read; done it. Satisfaction guaranteed).

If you're a good player in FPS you will be hit with a lot of accusation, I was a tournament player in CoD4 and I was always getting called out for hacking when I went pub stomping.
It's annoying but haters gonna hate to be honest.
Don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy destroying people champ, you earnt it.
