Okay, so I'm doing the final mission of the game (I'm assuming) where you infiltrate Rome to assassinate Borgia. During a fight with the wall guards, I stole a seeker's spear and killed him, and a brute with it, ending the fight. So, I pressed the B button to drop the spear, but what ended up happening was Ezio dropped the spear AND my equipped sword (Sword of Altair) and picked up a nearby sword, with a little notice below my health bar saying "Weapon Swapped". I try to pick up my blade, but it only puts it as a temporary weapon. How do I replace the sword I just picked up with my original blade?

Or you could just finish the game without it and be happy.

Then replace it when you get home.

Yeah, but I hate the way the sword I picked up looks. It's the one with the really gaudy handle.

Go home, go to the weapons rake, pick it up, don't use it, kill with the assassin blades.

It's only a temporary thing so you should be able to drop the weapon your currently holding then pick up your Sword of Altair and push right on your D-Pad for him to put it back within it's sheath. If that doesnt work abort the memory...go to the weapons room of the villa and re-equip the sword and restart the memory from the beginning.

Time to nut up or shut up. You'll only have it for a short while anyway.

Ezio replaced the sword of Altair with the other one as his main. How do I drop my main weapon?

Now that I think of it, the weapon isn't really the point. I just want to know how it happened and how to do it.

This happened to me a couple of times. It's not that big of a deal, the game is fucking easy as is. Just finish up your mission and get your sword back from the villa when you're done.

The same way you dropped it before..if that doesn't work go back to the villa.

From what I remember you can have your main sword or dagger knocked out of your hand if you try and deflect a brute using a heavy weapon. At least that's what happened to me a couple of times, it annoyed the hell out of me because you have to go back to the villa and reequip it if you accidentally pick up the wrong weapon.

Nice. Maybe next time you'll crack a joke about the size of my dick? Or is that below you?
