I know that there are plenty of people here that have, at some point, used an unnecessary drug, legal or otherwise.

Now, we've all been taught that drugs are bad. People say you shouldn't do them, their bad for your health, blahdeeblah. What I was curious about is what people think about the whole concept. For example, people may smoke menthol cigarettes because they are relaxing. People smoke pot for that reason as well. But we know that they are at least kind of bad.

A more direct question would be something along the lines of "Why did you start?" Did people knowingly go against their better judgment? Did people weigh the positives and negatives against their current situation and deem it reasonable. Did it just kind of happen? How does it make you feel? Also, I'm not trying to change anybody. If you smoke pot 3 times a day, I couldn't care less, I just want to hear what you have to say about it.

Before you ask, no I don't do drugs of any kind. Flame all you want. I don't care.

At least, I think it's funny.

I used to drink because I was bored. I smoked weed once because I was wondering why everyone said it was so great (It wasn't). I got high on Triple C by accident. I smoke because it calms me, and by God, I actually enjoy smoking (/GASP, someone who ENJOYS tobacco past the initial addiction? Blasphemy!).

I COULDN'T CARE LESS*
Sorry it really annoys me.

I don't do drugs becuase I don't see the beneficial side in wasting lots of money on something as worthless as weed or something. But I know many people who waste all their paychecks on drugs so they can get 'west'. I have nothing against people smoking/doing drugs, but I seriously believe that its a waste.

I used to smoke weed as well as some flavored tobacco products. I started because some friends had some and I thought it would be fun, it was fun. I know all the effects of both tobacco and weed... I don't care very much about them(though I've stopped smoking for the most part anyway).

So overall... I did, now I don't. It was just sort of a casual thing.

I've actually heard of many people moving on to pipe tobacco. I guess it makes them feel fancy. I would probably feel pretty fancy too. If I ever decide to smoke something, it'll be pipe tobacco.

What this guy said.

I use alcohol from time to time. Why? I figured I had to try it some time, and I discovered it made me feel good. I do also hate social situations for the most part, and alcohol lets me relax and have fun in an environment I'm not normally comfortable in.

Pipe smoke is more aroma therapy than anything else.

I do love my pipe though. When it comes to smoking away a day of stress, pipe tobacco is they way to go.

I don't because I don't feel like paying for something that's harmful but'll make me feel nice for an hour or two.

I don't smoke weed, but pretty much all my all my closer friends do, usually on a pretty regular basis. I try not to be too uptight about it, because I know it's less harmful than alcohol and such (my roommate feels the need to constantly remind me of this, like he's trying to make a point) but I'll admit that I get a little uncomfortable when they smoke it/talk about it. At the very least a few of them (roommate especially) could try cutting down a little.

Also, relevant:

I have smoked weed. The reason I don't regularly is because 1) I'm a very addictive person (easily addicted to stuff) 2) I'm lazy enough as is and 3) it's illegal.

tbh I don't think the health factors really matter that much when I casually consume over a bottle of wine on a night out. That's just to get me going too.

I don't do any type drug or alcohol, though as is my current age (16 >.<) most of my peers do, so I've plenty of exposure to the stuff. I never have either, nor do I plan on it.

Off Topic, if you saw the amount of mistakes I made trying to type this, you would really think otherwise...

Recreational drug use to escape your problems is merely a method of permanent procrastination. It doesn't help you solve your problems you'll likely eventually have to deal with or layer with other problems. It's a silent problem-builder. But then again, a lot of escape-coping methods cause this. Dope is just one of them. Alcohol another.

I've never used the stuff. Never want to. I'm disgusted with people who do use it.

Drugs are bad yes but so is watching too much TV among many other unhealthy things which we all do. Seriously, if you tell me that you don't do a single thing that is bad for your body then you're a liar.

So, based on that knowledge I chose to do something which in my mind is the greatest choice I ever made. I love looking for new experiences and will happily gobble almost[sup][1][/sup] anything that comes my way.

[footnote] I'm not up for taking anything seriously addictive so I tend to steer well clear of opiates as well as things like coke and meth.[/footnote]

Big fan of psychedelics, I think they're wonderful and can provide many useful insights. I also believe that because people are inherently irresponsible towards drug use, is the reason they get a bad rep. As long as you're responsible, know your source and actually read up on the subject and prepare adequately, psychedelics will be one of the most positive and incredible experiences of your life. My belief is, respect the drug and it will respect you.

I don't use regularly, once every two months give or take... However, I will say this, they've changed my life, for the better.

For any other psychonauts, I recommend checking out "The Spirit Molecule" a documentary about DMT.

Disclaimer: I'm not advocating drug use, honestly I don't think it's something most people should do. However, if you want to dabble with them, remember knowledge is power.

what i find funny is that pot alcohol is way worse for the body than pot. yet one is illegal while the other is not. I think its silly. I dont do drugs myself but I had to do a paper on the subject before and I found that very interesting.

I guess you don't play games either then? :p

OT: I tried all sorts of things in the past, but I sort of grew out of the whole "let's get wasted" type fun, now I just enjoy a drink or two once in a while.

I've drank alcohol since I was a teenager (the annual ball/prom/whatever it was was ditched and usually spent at a bar), I've smoked since then as well. Not an addict as I can stop smoking for months (tested) but I enjoy it and it calms me down.

I've smoked weed on ocassion for fun, along with salvia and others. I don't think that it's a health issue that is worse than alcohol. It's legal to drink, while some drunks are violent and can bash a bottle over another person's head. It's legal to drive a ton of metal, be careless once and kill yourself and your friends. It's legal to smoke and have cancer.

It's not legal to smoke marijuana and get a craving for chocolate and water. With that thinking, I never condemned its consumption and indulge in it on a night out.

I don't smoke personally, but weed isn't half as dangerous as most regulatory bodies would have you believe, so I've got nothing against it, I just don't have the money or inclination to smoke it.
