DS2 Summoning

So I wanted to play a faith character. I want the miracle sunlight spear. I realized on my super high level character that I've collected almost everything with that I could never get it on them. I farmed the only NPCs that drop sunlight medals until they stopped spawning and only got 2 (out of 30 needed). For me, Bonfire ascetics are not a possibility. I want to run through every game mode in its entirety, not in pieces.

Anyway... so I made a new faith character and played up to where you find the Sunbro covenant. I've been trying to get summoned for around 2 hours now with no luck. I am only soul level 53 with 205039 soul memory. I've tried dropping signs at every boss up to iron keep and every bonfire but nobody summons me.

I'm not in that covenant that blocks coop, I haven't burned any effigies at bonfires. Google has little to say about level ranges and COOP with Dark Souls 2...

Anyone know a good place I can coop at my level?

You should be fine, I've been able to coop with sl 150 characters. That isn't an outrageous amount of souls either. In the flextra life wiki I think they have a summon range calculator so you might want to check that out. Maybe try going to the bastile seeing as your soul level may be too low. tbh I haven't had this problem at all and usually get summoned within 2 minutes. Another suggestion is to check if you have your connection set to local or regional(something like that), setting it to regional will give you a higher likelihood to find people but you may also experience lag.

Tried that calc and it said my level range was 39-69. I tried everything from Pursuer through iron keep. It's really weird. I'm also not seeing any other summon signs. I also have allow region on. I typically wait around for 10 minutes before trying another boss/bonfire. Currently sitting at the mytha boss fog and not getting any bites. :/

Fun fact: If you put down your summon sign, ALL other summons signs vanish. I didn't figure this out until just the other night, and I'm level 180.

As for being summoned, a really good spot is right before you fight The Duke's Dear Freja--the spider queen. It's the place where all the spiders are. Players often need help in this area (even though that boss is a cake walk), so put your summon down right before the door and wait. Usually takes about two minutes. I stayed in that area just getting summoned again and again and my character power-leveled like no tomorrow.

Finally, by joining the Covenant of the Sun, you will also get Sunlight Medals when you beat a boss, not just being summoned into someone else's world.

I myself just unlocked the Miracle Sun Spear and let me tell you, totally worth it. That thing does some serious damage.

Think I've figured out my problem. My soul memory is way out of whack compared to most other peoples. First thing I did was kill Maughlin and get his set which increases souls. After killing the last giant, I spent 10k souls at Melentia and got the silver serpent ring +1. I wore this gear for around 5 hours and gained like 45% more souls than most players do...

So my soul level is normal but my soul memory is way higher. There's like, no players in my soul memory range. That's why I'm not seeing summon signs (before putting down mine) and why I'm not getting summoned. In effect, I will never get any online interactions because I was too effiecient with my soul gaining.

Soul Memory sucks. I just wasted my entire evening on a character that can't connect to multiplayer!

I farmed my 30 or so medalion at the smelter demon gate. I couldn't walk 2 steps before getting summoned. I don't know if it's still a good spot, but damn, people really needed help for him.

Grr...him and the Old Iron King were by far my hardest enemies. The Smelter Demon would just take no damage, and the King kept knocking me into the lava. Smelter was extra hard because I had to summon the NPC Lucitel or whatever her name was because I missed her summon for The Lost Sinner.

I suppose that's possible (what's Soul memory, exactly?), but like I said, I power leveled my character in a lot of different spots (several areas are now devoid of life) and I've had that same Covetous Soul Ring +1 as you have, and I'm still getting summoned rather regularly.
Although I didn't kill Maughlin, so there's that...
