I'm sure there's been some time in your life where there was a game (or two, or three) that you bought, assured yourself you'd have time to conquer it before you bought another game, then broke that promise when yet another title dropped the next month. You put that first game away, fired up the newest distraction, and completely forgot the original title...

...until years later, when you were doing some cleanup of your garage.

Consider your game library, regardless of the machine used to play it. What are the games you assured yourself you were going to see through to the end, but life (and other shinies) got in the way?

Someday, I will re-install and beat Doom 3 and the expansion for it. I remember waiting so long for this game, getting it, and at the time not having a computer that could handle it on the lowest settings. Shouldn't be a problem now.

Super Mario 64. I played it for the first time 15 years ago. I just finished it last year.

Just bought Final Fantasy 8 and intend to beat it at some point after getting roughly halfway through it nearly twelve years ago. My only excuse then was I was eight or nine at the time and nothing kept my attention, I'm surprised I got halfway through it.

Wait, dusting off the old game collection? I was under the impression that the Escapist ONLY played older games.

After sitting on a shelf for years, I finally beat Fallout Tactics a few months ago.

It's been maybe four years and Shining Force EXA is still sitting on my shelf waiting to be beaten, but that's what it gets for ramping up the difficulty so much at the end that I was stuck.

Awesome. I know the hardest part of getting ahold of N64s used nowadays is finding controllers that don't have destroyed sticks.

Oh, and are those the Chronicle versions from PS1? Fight loadings were driving me up the wall with those.

Super Meat Boy, i bought that game several months ago, and then Red Dead Redemption came up, followed by Dead Rising 2, and then Borderlands, and now Portal 2.

I haven't beaten Majoras mask. True I only actually bought it last year but I've been dying to for about 10.
I'm sure there's more but none spring to mind right now. My gaming prime was when I was 12 and didn't have homework or a job. What days.

Want me to blow your mind?
I just bought the goldeneye game used at a local hobby dealer.
Wait, did I say bought? I mean got, from some random chick who happened to be in the shop, browsing the used N64 games at the same time as me. And she felt generous and just bought it to me!!
And both my old controllers seams to be working perfectly.

And yeah, it's the PS1 versions, so the black loading screens is still there...

I haven't beaten DA:Origins yet, and doubt I ever will. I should like this game, but I just can't get into it for some reason. The combat is either boring or frustrating, and the dialogue is incredibly frustrating because for some reason I always misjudge the tone of every dialogue option.
Then there's seven kingdoms, which is just an all-round piece of shit.

Wow, that does blow my mind. That's very kind.

I lost many an hour to Goldeneye multiplayer and the cheapness of the split-screens. Got to the point where people were running around, guns pointed at the ground, and we could still tell where others were due to floor texture. One of those "I'm looking cuz player X is looking because player Y is cheating and looking..."

Was just spoiled by the FF cartridge games, instant-load for battles. FF Origins porting to GBA made me appreciate that all the more at the time.

Currently trying to play through Serious Sam, another one I didn't beat way back when I got it. Got through First Encounter, then found out that Second Encounter had First Encounter's mission. Yay, going through it a second time, but at least I remember what I did already.

Someday, I will go back, figure out the most overpowered character build I can, and finish Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal.

Until then, Draconis can go (EFF!) himself.
