Ok. let's get this straight. I hate EA. I think they are a crappy company hoarding wads of cash in the next room to where they'r making all their crappy games. I have created this post to have a nice, orderly discussion. Not a flame war. i would I think EA should be burned at the metaphorical stake. Anyone else disagree?

l'd recommend all to see this video to see where I'm coming from.

A joke, surely.

...

Honestly, at this point I'm just tired of hearing the EA hate. It's like someone yelling, "Hitler wasn't a very nice guy!" in my face every chance he gets. No matter how true that is, I'm still going to want him to shut up before too long.

Huh. I think I just equated EA to Hitler. Well, aren't we off to a fine start.

Yeah, I do. But since it won't get me anything but endless grief, I'll just keep my opinion to myself. Can't fight a whole bandwagon.

I said it once. I was just voicing my opinion. I don't like EA. plain and simple. The guy might get annoying, but the fact is the same.

*facepalm*

They're a for-profit company. Making money is what they do, same as every single other game developer. You need a more specific argument.

Fair enough. I have actually had a very personal experience. I bought Battlefield 1943 A few years back. It wouldn't let me join the EA servers. So, I contacted EA tech support. 3 times. Not one time did they help. 1 1/2 years later, I finally got it to work. That has made me bias against them. Learning about other crappy things they did only made me hate them more.

Sure, EA isn't the best company. Their DLC practices are some of the greediest in the business and they don't have the best track record about caring for the end quality of their games lately (ruining Bioware by forcing shorter development times anybody?)

At the end of the day however, they're just out to make money. They've found what works for them and they're laughing all the way to the bank. I can spend my time hating them, but there are far worse companies out there.

I don't care much for their business practices, but they don't ruin everything as some people would like to think. I have never had any personal issues with any of their games, unlike some (such as you) have. Taking a look at their games, the Dead Space series for example has flourished under EA's control.

I am a little concered abotu the (very little) I've heard about Dead space 3 (I havnt even finished 2 yet..I know..I know)

I mean cover? co-op?

I know dead space isn't scary and I'm fine with that, but its still unique compared to all the other cover based shooters out there and It would be a shame to turn it into an action game rather than a "oh fuck! fuck! RUN!!!" game

  • A business opens its doors to customers

Sells a shit ton of entertainment products

People keep coming back for more and record sales are smashed year after year

    Labeled worst company ever

_

  • A child labor warehouse is hired to make clothes

Everyone around the world buys their crap from the local megastore

Becomes the "in" clothes to wear

    No one thinks about it

Oh internet, you are so cute.

And both still make mad dosh, hand over fist. Not sure whether that makes me laugh at the silliness of it all or cry at the utter failure to control our own consumeristic (is that a word? Well, I am making it one) tendencies...

I am a little concerned as well. Dead Space 2 was intended to get away from the survival horror angle that the first had and I'm fine with that. Cover doesn't bother me, but the co-op does, as I feel that Dead Space's story is excellent with Issac as our lone protagonist.

We'll see how it turns out at E3.

You were probably thinking of materialistic.

I tend to laugh at the people calling EA the worst company ever and cry for their parents.

Well, I was thinking more about how hard it is to escape from our own consumerist culture (since that stuff is so fecking ingrained in the collective conscious by now), but I had a hard time finding the correct way to describe such a thing without creating a horrible run-on sentence. XD But, on second thought, materialistic is probably a good word for that too... Oh, screw it, I will leave it in.

As long as you find a way to feel superior to most other gamers :)

Although, as a possible alternative might I suggest not wasting your time hating giant companies and instead supporting smaller developers and spending your time on that? It doesn't give quite the same feeling of being better than everyone else but it does make you much less of a condescending twat.

EA? They published Battlefield 3 and FIFA12 last year. I'm still playing them. That can't be said for many other games. Origin is a pretty painless Steam style DRM system with an overpriced Online Store. In my experience it offers faster downloads than Steam so I'm more than happy to use it. Sure I was hesitant to use it at first but then EA changed their terms of use allaying my concerns. So EA is...ok...I guess? Certainly better in my eyes than Sega and Activision.

Still peeved at them for destroying Westwood studious. Probably won't stop feeling that way until they make a good Command and Conquer game, and all this BioWare shit compounded on top of already crappy business practices don't seem to help that much.

However, if they make good games I'll still buy them in the hopes of sending them the message that I actually like some of their games, and they should continue to make quality products. And when those "quality products" turn out to be glitched to hell or unplayable for whatever reason, I'll complain until it's fixed. I'll continue to dislike the company the whole way through.

Welcome to the Escapist, a website about gaming (of which EA is included).

We come here to this gaming section to talk about games not the morality of child labour.

Sorry to pick on your post but i've seen it a few times and it is starting to grate my pickle a little bit.

People complain about a game on a gaming website in the gaming forum and someone says something pathetic like "first world problems" or "starving people in third world countries and this is what you complain about" well yes, yes it bloody is.... It's the gaming section of a gaming website of course that's what we're going to talk about.
