I'm actually getting rather tired of this bullshit rhetoric.

If people didn't buy their stuff, then EA wouldn't be doing what it's doing.

Stop throwing money at EA and maybe they'll change their ways.

/thread in the first response anyone? But yeah that's what I'm doing. Haven't bought a new EA game in over a year.

You do know that the video he links to makes pretty much the same point you're berating him as not getting?

If people stopped throwing money at EA, then yes, they would change their ways. Unfortunately, as long as EA keeps throwing money at marketing and hype, people will keep throwing money at them.

Sorry if I don't agree with that statement, Jeffers...

Agree with most things being said above.

The video is pretty hilarious though. Got over it after the first few minutes, but GMod is brilliant for this sort of stuff.

I've heard that the more time you declare EA to be the antichrist the better they get.

That's my strategy, too. It's been pretty effective at keeping my computer free of Origin.

OT: In what bizarre parallel universe is Gaben the underdog? Valve loves money just as much as EA does, but realizes that people are more likely to give you their money if you don't act like a Captain Planet villain.

So, EA is the hate object for this year?
Cool, I'll go get my popcorn.

They're the hate object EVERY year.

I'd just like to say that *I* hated EA before it was cool.

Why must you remind me of my past, DoPo?! Why?!

Nah, I never really bought that many EA games anyway (in fact almost never), I just made the conscious decision to not buy them.

Y'know what I'd appreciate? The:

"LEAVE EA ALONE!"

Crowd shutting the hell up. You know how spending wisely is basically voting your interests? Well speaking wisely is more or less promoting your interests. Exactly *how* does standing up for EA, a company that has a paid staff to do damage control for it- benefit you?

Serious question. What exactly do you get out of jumping to their defense? If the answer is: Madden/Mass Effect/Mirror's Edge?

Well I've got good news for you! There's only 1 Madden game, and it's available now. So you don't need EA to exist!

And the Mass Effect franchise was apparently 1 collosal bait and switch. It was never *really* a complex single player epic, it was an overlong introduction to horde mode. Makes sense really, horde mode takes a lot of explaining.

And Mirror's Edge? EA's big claim to artistic experimentation? Funny thing: it was a failure on every level. And they have no plans to do anything else with the IP at present. So again, you've got no reason to be crusading for publisher rights.

Don't worry, man, we're here to help. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to overcoming it.

OK, I don't really see anything weird that you haven't bought many EA games. Most recent ones don't hold my attention either. And I mean, I can count the games that I find interesting on one hand (out of any EA affiliated games): Spore (fun. I actually never advanced into the space age, I like the others, though), DA:O (sort of meh but it can pass the time), Mass Effect 1-3(see DA:O but it's slightly better), Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (similar to DA:O but worse overall. Still seems slightly more fun), Syndicate (don't really have an opinion. I am thinking of checking it out at some point. Maybe.). Out of these ME 3 I haven't bought yet because it's not worth full price (to me at least) and same goes for KoA - played the demo and wasn't impressed, decided I might consider it if it was reduced. Seeing how the studio is bankrupting, I think my decision was good.

So that's 7 games over the course of...4 years. And I've bought 4 of them. The next most recent EA game I can think of was NFS: Underground (which I didn't buy but played). So unless I'm missing something, that's about 9 years with 8 games (not all of which I've even bought).

I think I can live with that.

That was pretty funny. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, too many gullible tasteless consumers to stop EA and the rest churning out shit though, voting with your wallet doesn't do jack any more.
