Seems like Bethesda's next big project is very likely to be a TES MMO:

Personally I just hope this doesn't mean no Fallout 4. I like Bethesda because I'm a single player guy who is sick of multiplayer being shoved into everything.

I would be sad to see them change direction.

How do you guys feel about this?

I'd love an TES MMO with true action combat and full loot PvP.

Though we'll probably get another forgettable shitfest with auto-attacking, hotkey abilities, no collision detection, instanced raids and battlegrounds and an endless gear grind.

It's quite possible this is the project Zenimax Online has been working on these last few years. [http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16368]

I really fucking hope not. If they're going to do ANYTHING with multiplayer, I'd prefer some form of free-roam mode (and even then, keep that shit out of ES) but not MMO.

Because being instakilled by obnoxious 12 year olds and a shoehorned in two faction system is what the Elder Scrolls really needs.

I agree with you, I really hope that this is the next gen project Bethesda has been hiring for and not their next big release.

I'm not a big MMO player (or at all). Why is it everyone seems to be jumpin' into the MMO pile? Last I heard that was a money pit since WOW dominated the genre. :\

NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I don't want this. I really don't!

Imagine the bugs if the next TES was an MMO?

Well all I know is that won't play it, I mean even if it's well executed I'm not big on MMOs and as a general rule I skip them, besides the only multiplayer I could really picture on Elder Scrolls is a 2-4 player co-op thing and I have a hard time thinking that would work all that well but good for the people that want it though.

Torn. I love the Elder Scrolls games for many reasons, none of which would be improved by multiplayer.

On the other hand, it is a huge, interesting, lore-drenched world, and it would lend itself extremely well to a MMO.

So...torn.

It would probably inject some much needed life into the series (I mean the game worlds themselves. They are rather soul-less). But I've still yet to try an MMO, and Elder Scrolls would not be the one to win me over.

That's interesting... I'd like to give it a go, but I've been against paying per month ever since I had to start paying those bills. Speaking of which, I can't remember, did the Fallout MMO just get completely scrapped?

Fallout: Online (or Project V13) was being produced by Interplay. Unfortunately, Bethesda reclaimed the right after Interplay was unable to make substantial gains and get into full production by the time allotted by Bethesda.

Yeah, I knew it was started by Interplay and such, but if memory serves, Bethesda now has the rights to such a game.

Yeah, Interplay had it for a few years; but early this year, it was handed back to Bethesda. So, who knows, they might hand it off to Obsidian or something (If it survives the South Park MMO)

So what you're saying is now I can hike with friends IRL and in-game? Thank you, Bethesda Softworks!

I don't really understand why people wouldn't want this to exist at all. Even if it's a numbered sequel a la FFXI, they're almost certainly not going to abandon the main series that they just now struck gold with. So long as we keep getting "real" TES games, this really isn't any different than those old mobile games nobody remembers.

I love Bethesda, they are my favorite developer.

Will I buy this? Probably not.

Why? Because what I love about Bethesda's games can't be translated into an MMO. I'll keep an eye on it, and maybe it will surprise me. I doubt it though. I'd rather they just start on the TES VI so we don't have to wait 6 years again.

I don't like this...at all. One of the reason why I loved Elder Scrolls is how it was a world full of cultures and people, and you had them all for yourself. This is essentially a 180 for the entire series. I hope this is a false rumor, as this would be disheartening.

I love Elder Scrolls but I'd rather Bethesda went out of business and never made another game than made an MMO. MMOs are where franchises go to die.
