I was stoked about the new elder scolls (and I pray it comes to 360) and I went back and played some oblivion and fell in love with it again. SO what I got to thinking was what is needed in the new game? Personaly I would like (in no particular order)

:mounted combat
:better spell creation/weaspon enchantment, more than two or three effects ect
:spells that can be held down and sustained (immagine force lightning)
:duel wealding weapons,it worked in dragon age so why not?
:companions, WITHOUT RETARD PATHFINDING/AI
:a return to shivering isles
:no mercantile or speechcraft skills, replaced by somthing usefull like mining or building
:dark brotherhood questline and other factions, and once you actually reach the highest rank being able to use for somthing other than a small gold boost
:a hardcore mode much like fallout:NV sleep, drink, eat ect sex maybe a requirment too?

thats the most important things in my opinion. So what does everyone else have on their wishlist for the next elder scrolls?

P.S NO TROLLS!

Sorry, already made http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.250408-What-do-you-want-to-see-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim

But anyway:
-NO LEVEL SCALING
-NO FAST TRAVEL

That's actually it....

A ton of random encounters...

The thing I enjoyed most about Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (I didn't enjoy Oblivion much) is when I was walking around and stumbled across something utterly random and insane. It would make my day.

So yeah just add tons and tons of character related stuff...

To respond in order:

-Mounted combat would be nice
-Spell creation seems fine to me; what I'd like to see is different spell animations so my super-death-fireball doesn't look just like flare
-Hold down spells might be cool, but would they constantly drain you magicka? Also, what do you do when you have more than one foe?
-Dual wielding is overrated; I'm happy to see one game that doesn't have it
-Yes, intelligent AIs would be nice. Furthermore, more than 3 voice actors would be good
-The Shivering Isles has been done. I'd like to see something in that vein but new. Originality is the keyword here
-Mining? This isn't WOW. How would building work? I'm quite happy with the Speechcraft and mercantile skills
-I'd to see faction's that are mutually exclusive; "you can join the mages or the figters, but not both!" sort of thing. It would make everything far more interesting
-Hardcore mode might be interesting, but compulsory sex? That's just ridiculous

You know, if they get rid of the pedophile stare the people within these games have..I may be able to get into it. o_O But I bet lots of people have or will go on about this..

I have some suggestions:

-Bring back and improve radiant AI.
-Keep guild story-lines.
-Make towns a part of the world again like in Morrowind, not separated from the rest of the world like in Oblivion.
-Have bigger battles with more NPC's.
-Tone down the amount of caves and ruins you can explore. Seriously, it was just too much in Oblivion.
-Better level scaling (as in scaling more smoothly, have the friendly characters scale as well, and have it actually make sense).
-More of the awesome creative quests that we saw in Oblivion.

Those are all the ones that come to mind.

Better melee combat like parries and stabs with flourishes and things, maybe even throws for hand to hand. That'd be cool. Also, flying mounts. Oh, and spears and flails and other types of weapons, not just swords clubs and axes (I've just played Oblivion, don't know if the others have these)

a werewolf system that works at least as well as the vampire system in oblivion

I heard the morrowind expansion did this well, perhaps it's time to resurrect it.

Keep the level scaling and general leveling system. But make the enemy scaling on a toggle in the menu.

I love it, personally. Don't have to waste my bloody time with things beneath me in power if I have a solid build. For people who don't know what they're doing, level scaling can be a *****, I suppose.

The one NPC kill a day thing wasn't particularly nice. And human NPC enemies were much less common than Oblivion's countless Bandits.

If it does have level-scaling, I will not be playing it. That's a certain.

Those random encounters add greatly to the level of immersion and decrease the dreadful predictability. I'd like to see that in Skyrim.

I loved being a werewolf, but the final boss in becoming a werewolf was a pain in the ass. Basically once every night (I think once a night) you became a werewolf. You'd haved to kill 1 person or you'd be uber weak.

Best part about lycanthropy is that if no one saw you change, no one ever knew. The moment one person saw you though, everyone hated you

A refined stealth system and increased city depth would be nice. In Oblivion, the cities and strongholds you would inhabit (and presumably rob) all felt very 2-dimensional and un-interactive. If you, say, wanted to sneak into a castle and steal the cutlery, you'd just walk in the front door, walk into the dining room, pick up everything that wasn't nailed down, and walk out again. It would be nice if there was a bit more of a Saboteur-esque edge to it. Maybe they could add the disguise system from New Vegas, or things like secret passages and alternate entrances. It'd just be nice if the cities felt like actual cities instead of box forts, you know?

Also, re-introducing the various supernatural guilds would be nice.

Better animations
Better voice acting (more different voices...)
Better combat system
No leveled enemies
Actual dragons...
Better spell effects
Fallout 3 type random encounters
More interesting landscape
Less broken quests
Greater range of weapons and armor
Mountaineering!
Less loading screens
Bigger battles

That's about it. You'd almost think I didn't like Oblivion. You'd be wrong. And I want Skyrim.

Better companion AI (If you don't want my blade in your kidney stop running infront of my power attacks)
The ability to sell spells
Customizable equipment
More voice actors
A better Character creator
(I know this next one is going to make me sound like a perv but) Nudity without Mods

That's all for now.
