Just thinking about emotional moments in games. Not so much sad but a moment that really made you feel something.
But i do have a sad one. In Kingdom Hearts 2 where Roxas is made to disappear to resurrect Sora. At this point you just start to get attached to the character and he's taken away

The opening of Mass Effect 2. Oh wow, that one was a tear-jerker.

Also, you made me think of the ending to KH: 358/2 Days. So sad.

If you let the character Calil die in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn they have to explain why she's gone to her 5 year old daughter :'(

After playing Final Fantasy VII for some time, there is a point in the story that brings you back to Midgard, your old "starting area". As I saw Cloud standing there where the pillars had caved in and the sad music played I couldn't help but feel so nostalgic - in a videogame!!
(Final Fantasy VII - in general - was very touching.)

Persona 3, it made me cry several times. In fact I still get depressed whenever I think about the ending, I'm going to cry in a corner now...

I really loved that little detail in RD; it'd add a lot to the games if they did similar things when other characters died more.

Another example, in Path of Radiance if you let anybody die in the introductory chapters there's a brief scene where they're mourned.

The first Homeworld, there was this one mission. I won't spoil it, people who've played the game will know what I mean.

Kharak... Is burning.

Last game that moved me was Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. That bit at the end where Layton actually becomes emotional and irrational. Totally humanizes him. Someone on the writing staff knew what they were doing.

I know this is stupid, but when i was playing Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising, it turned out that Tarkus was actually the traitor. That was a smack in the face,to say the least.

I'll avoid talking about my usual visual novels. Thems' just cheating, by this point.

Instead...well, if you've played Tales of the Abyss, you'd know this one. Right after Akzeriuth. No, not Luke getting long-awaited psychological beatdown, though that was surprisingly emotional in and of itself.

No, I'm talking one part of that. Watching that little boy trapped under the corpse of his father. On a rock, out in the middle of a lake of miasma. Crying for help, while sinking to his death.

One of the few times I've ever cried from sheer horror.

Gears of War 2: Maria.
I thought it was gonna be "Oh look, some dead people. This one's Maria." Dom's sad for a bit, carry on.
But from the moment Marcus snapped Dom out of thinking Maria was okay... well, I felt like
Very nearly cried when Dom fired. I think cutting to Marcus' dopey gorilla face was the only thing that stopped me.
Come to think of it, I'm sad when anyone dies in the Gears of War games. Well, main characters.
If I were sad about every dead Locust, I'd be the most bummed out person on the face of the planet.
