Before I start this, let me just say that I really do like Resistance 2. Its argueablly one of the best FPS' (on console anyways) I've played and doesn't bore me. Now onto one of only 2 complaints about the game: Drones and Hellfire Turrets.

They just don't fit with the Chimera. Nor does it fully explain how/when they started using them. I know you could draw similarities with the Stalkers and Golaiths, but the drones... they just kinda came into R2 with no explaination. When a game does this, i often feel its a lazy addition to the enemy count.

What other sequel games do you feel had lazy enemy additions?

I have no idea.

maybe instead I'll mention a lack of an enemy: the krill.
they made gears freakin terrifying, especially when you don't know about them and accidentally step out of the light.

The bomb at the end of the game killed em all.

Also: Before you day "It did not kill the rest of the Locust" Kryll are harmed by light, so illuminating the ENTIRE Locust hives wiped em out completly.

RE5 "Oh hi Wesker! Oh you're back from the dead AGAIN? Well good for you champ!"

Also he never uses a friggin' gun when he's supposed to which would end Chris and Sheva's meddling once and for all (Those darn kids!).

yeah, that was quite freaky enemy.

OT: i'll mention a lack of an enemy from GoW as well. The Berserker. WTF happened to it? Was it killed in the lightmass bombing?

Yeah I don't like Wesker.

Everytime he shows up I give off a dull "hoorah." It's never entertaining nor does it provide anything to the stories (which tend to entertain otherwise).

Seconded.

I gotta mention the Combine Gunship from Half-Life 2. Yes, I guess the antlions were also a little out of left field, but they made the game into the best Starship Troopers sim available. But the giant, growling flying whales with helicopter tails? They looked cool and were fun to take down, and I guess they fit the whole organic / mechanical hybrid thing that make the Combine what they are, but they still seemed more like Final Fantasy bosses than something that should fight alongside Combine Elites.

I thought they fit pretty well, kinda a counter balance to the pure machine Hunter-Choppers. And yes, I loved gunship battles.

OT- The Flood from Halo. They came out of nowhere and I feared them WAY more than normal enemies.
EDIT
Whoops, SEQUEL game, in that case, pretty much all the bosses in Resistance 2

Halo 3

Those shape-shifting flood forms. They don't fit the game by forcing you to look up when everything is fought on the ground and they probably have some crazy explanation that basically says "we added them because we need more than 5 different enemies"

Actually alot Halo fans say that the Flood doesn't make much sense in the sequels, and it takes away their "cool" factor.

How about the fact Liquid Snake lives on inside Revolver Ocelot (much better villian by the way), through his fucking transplanted arm!! That is still to this day one of the dumbest plot twists ever.

And I agree that they need to give Wesker a rest. He is to the RE series what Jason Stathem and Nicholas Cage are to generic shitty action movies.

It's more along the lines of "they were super scary in the first one, but they lost their scaryness in the sequels because we guessed they would be in it."

OT: I don't play many sequal games, but(if you count expansions) the entire Corruption faction in EaW: FC

I like this answer.

But my choice, not so much an enemy as a playable faction: In Dawn of War Soulstorm, they added the Sisters of Battle and the Dark Eldar. They added two factions that where almost carbon coppies of two other factions, before they added the Tyranids, a completely unigue faction. What the hell?

Those giant bugs in X-Men Legends 2. They're not fun to fight at all, as combo attacks don't phase them, and it seems they'd be more in place in a generic action RPG like Baldur's Gate than a superhero brawler.

This doesn't really count as far as sequel-specific enemies go, but pretty much every animal enemy in the Super Nintendo Star Wars games. Why are random bats and eels trying to kill Luke?

The Flood in Halo Wars. I was really hoping for a game where those lame parasitic morons were left out but noooooo. Here's hoping for ODST.

And the Lambent Locusts at the very end of Gears 2. They came out of nowhere and weren't all too interesting. It just made me think of the Covenant civil war at the end of Halo 2, albeit lamer.

In Halo 2, I didn't understand where those flying aliens came from.

The flood made sense and all the various covenant from Halo 1 were fine. But I don't see how the covenant, in the short time delay between Halo 1 and 2 (considering the ruins of Halo were still smouldering in the opening sequence), suddenly found a new race and allied/ enslaved them.

It really felt like they just wanted a new game mechanic...
