Gabe Newell seems to have confirmed Episode 3 in a haiku response to a fan: http://i.imgur.com/9znCu.jpg.

Are you excited? Or will all the hype only lead to disappointment?

That's not a confirmation, as Episode 3 has been confirmed pretty much around the time Episode 2 came out, and plenty of times afterwards.

You know what it is though? A viciously clever tease.

Episode 3 has been confirmed since Episode 1. Just be quiet and the moment where everyone has moved on they'll announce it. It worked for Duke Nukem Forever.

A patch containing all of the updates the PC version of TF2 was confirmed to come to the console. Guess what? They said it isn't happening.

Is episode 3 really coming out?
Shouldn't they just skip straight to Half-Life 3?

I mean, honestly, I'm not sure I can be exited about episodic content being released with an interval of over 4 years!

Episode 3 has been confirmed for ages, dude.

I love the Haiku though. He ran out of syllables to write the release date. :(

We already know it's confirmed! We just have no idea when it will come out or what it will look like! To me this might signal that a reveal trailer might be coming in the next few weeks?

You should be stuck to a board and nailed by a chimp, for teasing us like this.

Either Valve will tell us that it's going to be release in five months time, then when everyone's pre-purchased it within a five hundred thousand kilometer radius of Earth, and the release date is two days away, Valve will go, "whoops, not ready yet" and post-pone the release for a few more months. Probably distract us with some dlc for Portal 2.

Second most probable*: They'll get it finished to a sparkle shine, then drop it on us so they can once in their lives finally go "How's that!"

*hopefully

Or they've skipped Ep3, and just made what they had the first quarter of Half-Life³

I've kinda lost all hope for the Half-Life series at this point...
