Good...I don't think the word "review" is appropriate here.

And glad to see someone else thought the Giving Tree was kinda off.

Huh. For some reason, I actually expected this last week.

Ah, well. I went ahead and saw Fantastic Mr. Fox last week and had a fun time, so I'm glad I skipped out on this. I think I'll see it if only because I have a coupon for a free ticket via my rewards card, and also because I'm a real sucker for kung-fu action movies.

see this is nice to know, i have never been a fan of ninjas so ill skip this one, i already knew that i would skip it since its called Ninja Assassin, oh and by the way aren't ninjas by default assassins? maybe its referring to an assassin who only kills ninjas but since the good ninja is a ninja i believe that either just "Ninja" would do, or if they really want to go b movie whit the title "Ninja Ninja"

lol, giving tree. Yeah, Ninja Assassin didn't look that interesting to me either. I love the 1 ninja vs an army of ninjas theory.

[edit]

and didn't ninjas deal in stealth assassinations? that makes the title redundant.

Well not the most informative review but who could blame him, I loved the movie, but he's totally right about the plot, it's a bag of farts, it has the same consistency of a bad Jason movie. I suppose that is where the appeal is though because this movie does portray the ninjas as movie monsters and that is at least different from a ninja movie perspective, it just didn't work. I still recommend seeing it because the action is movie theater price spectacle worth it. (it makes sense in my mind!)

Hey bob:
1.The plural form of Ninja is Ninja as well. Like the word Moose
2. That guy on 'The giving Tree's back cover IS scary.
3. What were you going to say about Loli Worm?

Yah have to agree with Movie Bob. This one would be a definite rental for me since I do enjoy ninja movies, even the cliche ones.

Nice review. I think I'm going to watch this, because I'm a sucker for high budget movies and CGI, though I hate to admit it...

I'm glad to see that he simply didn't use the 'fuck' word as opposed to bleeping it. That's a good middle road to have taken

Ooh! Ooh! I have an explanation for the many vs 1 Ninja issue.

Part 1: Ninjas are masters of fighting multiple opponents at once.
Part 2: Ninjas work alone, and as such do not fight well with other ninjas.
part 3: Ninjas aren't good at fighting one on one, due to all the awesome they have at fighting against groups.

Put these things together, and it makes sense. Those epic one-on-one battles? Not nearly as epic when you realise they're only appearing to be epic 'cause both parties suck. =p

Yeah, sounds about right for this movie. I remember the first time I saw the poster for this movie I thought two things:

1. Isn't that title a little redundant?
2. Isn't that just going to be the next Schindler's List in terms of epic, immortal story?

As for The Giving Tree, did you feel this way even as a kid, or just as you're looking back on it now? Because trust me, I loved this book as a kid. It was so sweet. But now, as a teenager looking back, I realize just how abusive the asshole kid really is.

yah i heard this movie has some decent action scenes but if you're looking for a plot it pretty much tells you to go fuck yourself. wait... should i have bleeped myself. seriously what is up with that?

but i suppose if you're looking for an intellectual and deep, masterful storytelling through a ninja movie you might be retarded...just saying

Always with the big budgets, even in movies that were founded on cheap-as-chips showmanship. This could never have the qualities of a good Jackie Chan movie, where you know it's all genuine- anyone considering seeing this film, go watch The Drunken Master instead, much better film, much more kickass fight scenes I'll wager!

No ninjas though, only ... martial artists?

Anyway, back to the budget thing. Am I the only one who misses the cheap touch? The material you knew was low budget and simple, but you didn't care because it seemed so much more wholesome, and usually didn't cost an arm and a leg to purchase? This is why my master plan for breaking into the gaming market is a digital distribution 16-bit console! Genius.
... well I'd buy one.
