EDIT: It's been shifted to the 19th of December. Same plan, different day.

So you think you know Epic...

It is almost time dear Escaparinos. The 19th of December approaches much like the pure vibrating epic of a blistering guitar solo played by some guy with a socially unacceptable amount of hair and a keg.

The plan is relatively simple. We show up at Central Station at 9:30am. Hang around until everyone shows up then head for Darling Harbour. Same deal as last time for the morning activities. Laser Tag and Bowling[footnote]I think it'd be too expensive to organise Paintball and a pain in the arse for everyone to get to Newcastle for the Zombie Shuffle.[/footnote]. Will cost around $38 per person (two games Laser Tag, one game Bowling). There's a bar at the bowling alley if people wish to bring money for drinks. From there we can either go to Pancakes On The Rocks (not on the rocks) which I will actually book us in to this time so we get a table or to the food court in the same building, or to the Paddy's Markets food court which is next to the arcade.

Or we could wing it and make shit up as we go along.

From there an arcade or a net cafe is most likely to spread the gaming loves and as ever there will be much prancing around in a ridiculous manner and Epic. Lots and lots of Epic. Most true Epic is relatively spontaneous such as the kidnapping of Sir Buttersworth from the first Escapism. What happens this time.. we shall see.

Pictures will be taken at this event by the way and could someone please bring a video camera. I've always wanted to film Escapism and this is just another opportunity for any budding camerworkers.

In terms of transport we will be walking and/or using trains to get from one place to another. If people bring cars it's their choice to use them or not. Hell, might even car-pool it from Central to Darling Harbour. I'm not going to organise that one though. Accommodation for out-of-area people can be organised at any number of backpacker's lodges in the area. I suggest a web search for them as they can be from as little as $35 for a night if you book ahead.

This is the RSVP list from the previous thread where we collected ideas. If your situation has changed since that time please let me know. I'll need to lay bookings down for the laser tag and bowling, and the restaurant if we do wind up going there. Numbers are imperative and I will only count you if you say you're coming for sure on the basis that even the best of planning means a few of these people won't make it. There are likely to be spots open for the uncertain that way, and I've yet to see one of these places get picky when more than the given number turn up.

I'd love to go but Sydney's too far for me, if someone organises one for Brisbane next year, I'll probably turn up.

Gosh I could have gone to this if it was a month ago but right now I live a prohibitively long way away from Sydney, so... damn.

Awwww.... :( That sounds like it'll be fun. But I'm stuck in America. Well, I hope everyone else has a spanking good time!

No one would ever organise it to be in Perth city would they? Because if they could that would be a big help as I live nowhere near Sydney. But of course Perth is a pretty dull place, well I can't just upo and go to Sydney because it's my sister's wedding this December and I have to be there the whole time to let her prepare.
So essentially no Vrex for Escapism '09.... yeah I feel kinda sad.

But everyone else should go ahead and have a good time anyway.

Yeah, I think I'm sticking around in Newcastle for Zombie Walk. Impending bills, birthdays and Christmas are making Escapism too expensive.

Sorry guys :(

*shakes fist* Bloody Australia with it's all "Being round the other side of the world to me."

Looking forward to the inevitable influx of interesting stories though.

We do our best. I don't think we'll have t-shirts. I might make stickers. Hmm. Yes.

Well it's a good thing I do live in Sydney.

But if I were to go, it would be the first time I've gone off to meet people I've only ever interacted with on the internet, and also the first time I'd be in the city on my own accord. Plus I haven't played laser tag in awhile and I suck at bowling.

And most people tend to respect me more if they don't know me in person.

Decisions, decisions..............

This is for American Escapists, right? Sorry, but we Brits can't make it over the pond :(

Someone needs to organise another British Escapism!
