Escapist (Or Other Online) Couples

So, for the third time or so, someone "discovered" that I was dating another Escapist member, which got me to thinking:
"Are their any other Escapist Couples, or for that matter, any Online/Gaming couples?"

It just be curious to see if there are a few, though I don't expect to get a high post count here (unless I get a dozen+ telling me about the Darths).

But their could be a several hidden couples because a) we have a large community, b)there's a number of women in this community, and c) many members live in the same area or region.

Or the Escapist Couple could of happened like mine, where I took my (Escapist)virgin girlfriend and introduced her new best friend and Internet love.

Or perhaps you and your mate enjoy gaming together, playing Online or Co-op.

So, my question is thus:

Do you have a mate (non-British version) that is also a member of the Escapist and/or plays online/multiplayer games with you?

And here I thought I'd spent too much time here over the past two years. No idea.

I play games online with my girlfriend, TF2 and Halo among others, but she's never been here beyond watching some Zero Punctuation vids.

It's quite an interesting topic, though I may be a little bias.

Larenxis and PurpleRain got together a little before I started posting and I think I missed a little of it due to how new I was. But talking to Purps occasionally on IRC I found out that they were really good people and seriously the best of luck to them.
From my understanding they actually met through the escapist and are making the most of things despite the continental gap, that I believe recently closed. (i'm not sure about the accuracy of that however) EDIT: My info was little off but Larenxis fixed that up [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.118980.2297130] ^^

The Darths, I kind of missed too :x
They have been through quite a bit and again, the best of fortune for them.


Anyway, the reason i'm perhaps bias on this topic is because I am indeed dating an Escapist too.

We actually met trough the escapist. It wasn't through a meetup or the forums either, but the land of milk and honey and conversation that the scene was set.

Around a month ago I was chatting away on the Escapist IRC when the most stunningly clever conversationalist stepped her toes into the ring.
Frankly she floored me with the way she spoke, such truth and conviction in what she was saying, eloquent and intelligent in her opinions. I have indeed fallen for someone online before but this was something new, something serious and mature that commanded respect.
There was indeed fire in the air.

The topics at hand were rather mediocre, and indeed I did not participate, but I kept an eye on the things she spoke of and did start to say my piece when the topics eventually tempted me.

Three days after her arrival to my haunt I had talked to her privately for the first time and was recieved with the same kindness she spoke in the main channel. The conversation was brief but included a simple request for some way other then IRC to contact her.

I still don't know what she saw in me, perhaps it was my stunning good looks or charming smile, or was it simply my pheremones overpowered her. Granted neither of us had seen eachother yet or will for a while longer but don't dare doubt the power of a smile in conversation.

Anyway, i'll skip ahead a while during which things were discussed, sparks started setting the conversation ablaze and truths were told.
That we had indeed developed feelings for eachother.
It is strange falling for someone you have never met, where all you have to know of them is really what they have to say and how they say it.

So presently plans are in the making, paperwork has been filed and thanks to a pair of good friends for their encouragement, belief and support I will be flying over just as soon as possible.
Also a thanks to everyone else who have said nice words and offered their own forms of encouragement.


I guess you can't really plan these things, or try and push them in a direction or else it will simply crumble in your hands.
But life is a journey and once in a while something comes along and you just have to leap for and make the most of the opportunities which unfold.

I met my boyfriend online. I was introduced by a friend at the time and from there things just grew. We started out as just friends to being the best of friends to falling for each other. We had gone through many complications in our lives and started confiding to each other things we never told our families. We were lucky to only live interstate though and he moved from Melbourne to Brisbane to live with me. Been together three and a half years and still going strong.

He's an Xbox gamer and so am I guess, just not to the same extremes. He just doesn't come onto The Escapist.
