Escapist Video Quality

In my personal opinion the videos on the Escapist website are pretty bad quality. By quality i mean the resolution of the videos. The videos for Unskippable and the review supplementary videos have low resolution, making it hard to distinguish what is happening on screen. We live in a HiRes, HiDef society now, so reviewing games and making videos in low res is kinda odd. I can understand the need for lower quality videos for people with slower internet connections but most people on this site probably have broadband or some equivalent. Is there any way that there can be an option to choose whether we want high quality or low quality videos? Or is that too expensive? Thanks for your time.

but what about this weeks Unskippable, lost odyssey. Its hard to even see whats happening on the screen, which kinda ruins it for me.

Uh, no. The difference between 720p and 1080p might be imperceptible to the human eye on 32-inch screen or smaller, but the difference between 1080p and 480i is immediately visible. If you can't tell the difference between a LCD HD set and standard definition television, either you haven't seen a HD TV playing actual HD content or you have crippling vision problems.

The difference isn't funny. Try viewing a picture, then set your monitor to it's lowest possible setting. My lowest, 800 by 600, is noticeably different.

My problem with the Escapist videos isn't the resolution anyway. It's the bitrate. When there's any movement on the screen you get major artifacts. Try watching the season three trailer of Unforgotten realms. Everything turns to muddy, uncoordinated tiles.

Yeah some times the videos run pixalated when there's allot of movement...

I'm fine with it. I really don't get the obession with HD, it's kind of pointless. Hell, I'll watch anything as long as it's visible, I don't need colours my eyes can't percieve, or so huge I can smell it size images.

A little pixellation never hurt anyone!

I don't mind the quality of the videos, but an option for HD like YouTube has would be nice.

i dont know how people didnt think that the unskippable video was pixelated

I personally prefer something that buffers faster than it plays to something with superf**k high resolution.
