Eventual Switch backwards compatibility?

We all know the Switch isn't currently backwards compatible with the Wii U, partly due to differing storage mediums. The thing is, the same happened with the PS Vita and PSP, yet the Vita could play PSP games fine if they were downloaded off PSN.

Think that'll eventually happen for the Switch and Wii U?, for games that didn't use the gamepad functionality that much that is (like how Hyrule Warriors didn't need it, for example).

Hard to tell yet. It's possible. The Wii U had backwards compatibility with the Wii and the GameCube (although the later required a little tinkering); so there is the possibility. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Nintendo likes it when you buy their games twice.
Especially when they can throw "Deluxe" at the end to a minimally improved port and charge $60

To be honest, I'm okay with that for certain titles. For example, if they were to get Atlus to port Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and make it not require the Wii U gamepad, I'd be all for buying a Switch edition.

Likewise, I already have Hyrule Warriors, but I'd love a port of Legends with the visuals of the Wii U version.
