these games of ours sometimes seem to hate us. have you ever played fable 2? have you ever got wedged between a lamp and a cliff, unable to move, leaving you with 2 options: quit and save, leaving you stuck in the exact same place, or quit and lose a good two hours of progress? i have. anyone else experienced a slap in the face like this?

I honestly can't wait for text from this one, the title honestly had me laughing.
Just imagine a pissed off game come up to me and slap me for some funky monkey reason.

EDIT: Awwww....

Yes. F.E.A.R. gave me a " Ha ha, you committed suicide a lot" secret achievement. For 0 gamerscore.

I try to avoid buying games with hands, they tend to be violent.

on a serious note you might want to add text to clarify what you mean.

Not literally, but there was this one time...

The game Ready, Aim, Tomatoes for the Menacer on the Sega Genesis. The first time we went through a stage, we did very poorly. To our surprise, the voice-over said, "Good shooting" at which we were puzzled, yet rather relieved. Our suspicions were confirmed (and our relief shattered) as the initial praise was followed shortly by "Not!"

It's not often you can use an adjective like "smartarse" when describing a game.

Well, did you sleep with its best friend or something?

I remember playing Splinter Cell and relying on nothing but quick saves, I ran into a building with zero health, quicksaved, got shot and died, had to go back like 2 hrs.

How about a dick slap?

I went through the whole mission on gta4, the first one with playboy x, We're running from the building, cops chasing us, we crash into the side of a bilding, quickly being rammed into on all sides by cop cars, lighting my car on fire, I get out and run the cops focused on killing Playboy x. Yet... no matter HOW many bullets he took, he didn't die! And... no matter how long I waited, he REFUSED to jump over the CARS in his way! SO... my car expoded, only a little ways away from winning the mission... and... He died, restart, rage quit for an hour, throw controller onto couch.

TOTAL...DICK...MOVE...COMPUTER.

As soon as I got home with my brand new copy of Far Cry 2, the cd jumped out of the case and kicked me in the balls.

It was an ok game, once you got past the whole physically-trying-to-harm-me thing.

Once. I was using Scissors to open up Resident Evil 5.. Bad idea.
OT: in The Lost and Damned, I'm speeding away from a deal gone wrong, and I slam right into a gas station sign. This wasn't the problem however. As I'm waiting for Johnny to get back up (Which is slower then watching paint that is covered in mollases dry) a cop just rolls right over my body and I instantly am stuck, and die. That left me staring at my TV, jaw open, for a good 5 minutes.

I'll second that /thread.

Really, the only time I've ever been slapped in the face by a game, it was due to emotion, not quality. It wasn't that the game was terrible, it's just that one of the characters did something that really pissed me off, and I spent the next ten minutes force-feeding him my swords.

Happens all to often in GTA4. What is worse though is when you jump out of your car and it runs you over because your bouncing body somehow moves faster than an infernus (fastest car in game).
