Ever read something online and hope to the maker that it's a parody?

Because maybe right now I'm just being that person? You know, the one who reads an obviously ridiculous article and falls for it?

I was on reddit and someone posted a thread linking to this article. http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/30/a-blo...dphones-and-people-are-not-impressed-6098560/

Which is an article about a blog post. http://www.themodernman.com/dating/how-to-talk-to-a-woman-who-is-wearing-headphones.html I took the time to read the blog post and now i'm really confused. The blog author is totally joking right? Like I know that there are sad corners of the internet filled with blokes who haven't figured women out yet, but no one would really think any of that is a good idea? I'm all for giving it a shot(trying to talk to a cute girl out of the blue) so long as the person is respectful. About all one can do is be respectful and move on if she expresses disinterest. To me though what that guy's talking about sounds like he thinks it's a good idea to just pester someone. But I digress...anyone else seen any articles or blog posts that seem a little too nuts to be true?

That was hilarious. I felt like I was reading an 80s sitcom script.

OT: Not exactly lecture, but lots of the stuff that PETA has made. You could confuse that with parodies of animal rights activism (specially when they make propaganda games out of popular videogame characters).

Sure have, there's a bunch of posts on this very site I've done that too right now it's an... unfortunate response from encountering all the people parodying the extremes, only to then find the actual extreme. It's also quite hard to discern on the internet given the nature of tone and how information is spread around these days - there's been a number of times I've seen links to joke sites (including the Onion, somehow) but being taken completely seriously because... well, someone just didn't realize that it was a joke.

Funny thing is, back during the hubbub before the Australian Election went through, I remember seeing actual posts from a couple of our satire news sites from the writers genuinely complaining about how our government was doing so many stupid and ridiculous things that they'd become impossible to parody, since anything the writers could think of the government had already done worse. I always hope an article is a joke article, but man, it's pretty worrying when the joke writers are going 'look, we can't make fun of them anymore, anything we can think of would just make them look better'.

Shit's called Poe's Law.

And yeah, it happens often, any extremist point of view falls subject to it.

So be rude? That's the secret?! No duh! If you walk up face-to-face with ANYONE, regardless of headphones, it starts a conversation.

I was gonna answer with that article, but now that you used it, there's nothing for me to add except an enthusiastic "Yes. That."

I mean, I guess the dude is lucky that he only manages to do it too polite women who don't chew him out for being disruptive?

Glad I'm not the only one with that article.

Funny thing is that on the very same site that wrote the article about the blog post, we find this gem:

Seems like a pretty easy thing to grasp.

Some of these are so mundane/strange. There are 40 parks, 20 are in good repair. Random fact about Russian troops in the middle like it's a secret spy message to the West. They have the largest building in the world...shaped like a bottle.
