Why can people never be happy with that they have? When the ps2 and gamecube launched I remember everyone saying they were shitty and only good games were the ol' NES cartridges. Now people are saying that last generation was the "golden age" of gaming.

Everywhere I go, I find people complaining that now is the worst time to be an entertainment consumer, because it's all derivative junk that was ripped off a time when everyone was happy and everything made was polished with pure gold. As I said before, I'm willing to bet there were a bunch of the same types of people complaining about THEIR age, saying it was the end of all things creative and good.

Get over yourselves. You're not making your lives any easier if all you do is grumble about the great things you have but don't appreciate.

While I agree with your point in general, I find it hard to take someone who complains about people complaining seriously.

Just like during the NES days there is some good and alot of crap. People complain about there being to many FPS's but how many side scrollers were back in the day that no one complained about? I never heard "oh man another side scroller there is just to many, can't they do something different?"

Although we didn't have the internet like this back in those days either.

Uhh, why?

But I agree with your point.
It's just nostalgic memories, not actual quality.

Why is there no good music coming out? It was way better in the eighties when we had Bros and Rick Astley.

Moral and Legal aspects aside; it's like a murderer saying that killing is wrong, or someone taking a TV out of a shop and saying "people shouldn't steal".

I see that I can agree to some degree with ye. sorry.. ,)

However, if you never complain, you will be at the mercy of the minds of the company´s.
Imagine a world with only book/film adaptations, the sims: infinity, wow: eternity and counterstrike: moebius.
Because money is power is media influence is hype is mainstream.

If one does not point out flaws, errors and things one sees as wrong,
it will never go anywhere either.

ps. My "Golden age" is the "isometric period", but I do not find everything new worthless.
Though much is. ,)

Old-school gamers frequently get pissy that gaming is accessible to everyone now. Video games used to be frustratingly difficult and enjoyable only by the select few with ridiculous reflexes and tons of practice time. Now games are usually just for casual play...sure there are "hardcore" games, but they're still largely accessible.

Once upon a time, the "gamers" were an elite few. Today, there are vast numbers of "gamers". The old-school ones are mad that they have to share their "throne."

LIES! My childhood is better then yours, whippersnapper! Let me point to my shitty games that were infact poorly designed and claim that they were MADE to be challenging and repeatedly played! Never mind that we played them over and over again because there was only 8 videogames worth playing! Argh! Get off my lawn!

MMhmmm prime recent example is "the first fallouts are waaaayyyyy better then fallout 3". Okay. maybe pound for pound for pound side by side on a timeline comparison. then yes perhaps. Better NPC dialogue and decisions. yes. really it was so long ago you can't even compare the two of them. But as an overall product, your kidding yourself if you think the archaic originals can even wipe off 3's dual layered encoding.

No, it's not. He's not saying something as general as that where he's saying all complaining is wrong. He's just saying complaining about Z is wrong.

No, he is complaining that complaining is wrong. The words I quoted in my first post are the indicator of that.

People don't like change. I do, though, and I'm in favour of now, not "way back then". Don't get me wrong, though, I still play all my old consoles post-1994.

Only if you keep those words out of context.

This.

Nostalgia is a very powerful force. It's the reason I still cling to my love of the original Pokemon and Sonic. There's nothing wrong with being fond of things from your long departed childhood but to discount anything new simply because it's...new is just stupid.
