I have a few of these "EVAR" threads floating around but I thought of this one and didn't want to forget before i could post it, so here it is.

Who is the most horrible, awful, despicable villain in any video game you've played. There's no poll as usual with these threads you you can judge thier evil-ness by your own standards.

Now think and select the Villain you believe to to be the Evilest!
(also bonus points if they enjoy the taste of brushing your teeth and drinking orange juice)

My vote goes to Dr. Suchong of Bioshock every line he has oozes indirect evil so much so he probably squeezes the blood of kittens into his coffee every morning.

Seeing as how overlooked this game is, I dont know if anyone will recognize him or not. But I have to go with Sephiroth from Final Fantasy Seven.

Like I say, most people won't know who he is, and it can take a while to dig up anything about him on the internet, but trust me. He's one mean SOB.

Hmmm, the evilist ever. Is there some sort of villain that kills people with bad grammar? I am certain he would be right up there with the Count CAPITALIZATION, and his cousin the Duke of, Random; punctuation!?.

What about Shodan. As bad as villans get, she did try to warp reality into her own version, and ya know, wipe us from the face of the universe lol

Spoiler?

Al Mualim and the other templars of Assassin's Creed, they wanted to take free will from every living being in the world. What's more evil than that?

not as much evil as pants-on-head retarded should be the person in any online game ranting about on others 'not doing their job', often filling chat in such manner you'd think he's not doing anything else at all. It apparently never came into their minds that calling someone names and excessive use of the f-word and capslock has never motivated anybody into playing any better. It's more likely to make folks play worse, since they'll be busy replying to you telling you either the above or simply that you're a dick.

But since this is about evil... I'd say me in any kind of god-game.

You kids and your games post year 2000.

Let's heat things up, shall we?

No, Sephiroth was decidedly NOT the 'evilest' villain ever, he was a metro-sexual cry baby with a serious Oedipus complex.

GlaDOS while seemingly a good choice, is far too young in the era of games and not inherently evil to begin with. Brilliant writing and an amazing song by Jonathan Coulton doth not the evildoer make.

I'm not even going to touch the Assassin's Creed suggestion... nope... not going there.

"Revan" was only evil if you were in a bad mood before playing the game.

My vote is going to have to go to Kefka. There was nary a non-evil bone in that clown prince's body. Plus, he wasn't some 'up in the clouds' kind of bad guy, he was in your face, nipping at your proverbial heels throughout most of your encounters with him, then he became quite god-like and decided destroying the world for his own personal amusement would be a good weekend adventure.

Plus, he's the only villain on record that ACTUALLY destroyed the world.

I wouldn't really throw GlaDOS in as an "evil" villain per se. "She" is simply a program...albeit a very corrupt program, but a program none the less (although she does get bonus evil points for making you destroy the companion cube *sob*)

Sephiroth has always just bugged me, as have all FF-related characters. They just rub me the wrong way. Also, Sephiroth thought he was doing the right thing, so I'd call that more "misguided", rather than evil.

Here are some of the villains who make my top list, along with my pick:

- Bowser/King Koopa: This guy earns a nod just based on persistence. He has that "schoolyard bully" kind of evil flair to him, and he always crashes a party right on time.

- Dr. Robotnik/Dr. Eggman: Call him what you will, this guy's pretty maniacal. I mean, turning adorable little forest critters into robot servants?! How is that not evil?!

- The Vizier: The antagonist from the Prince of Persia series has always been a thorn in my side. I hate being used. Especially when I'm being used as a tool to unleash a terrible curse on my homeland.

- King K. Rool/ Captain K. Rool: This guy is just a prick. I mean who steals someone's banana collection? And not only does he steal it, he steals it just for the fun of it! He just decides one day "Hmmm, I'm gonna send my minions and steal ALL of Donkey Kong's bananas". And on top of that, he doesn't even eat them! Poor nutrition is definitely evil.

And my pick for top evil villain...

Albert Wesker: This guy grinds my gears like no one else. I mean he's double-crossed and betrayed so many people so many different times that he's like an enemy to everyone. And while he's not directly responsible for the T-Virus epidemic, he certainly isn't putting his big manipulative brain to use on finding a solution to it.

I'm going to have to agree with you there, on both accounts. Unlike other video game villains, whose reasons for being evil are usually shoe-horned into the story in a pathetic effort to make you "try to understand," yet still hate them enough to kill them in the end. Kefka was just evil. No motives - he was just evil, and dead crazy to boot. I think it's fair to compare him to the Joker from Batman - in fact, he's probably based on that character. As they say in the new trailer - "some men just want to watch the world burn."

As for villains that most inspire hate, I'd have to go with Saturos from Golden Sun. Everything he did was just mind-bogglingly ANNOYING. He wasn't necessarily evil, but he did have a way of just getting under your skin. Granted, he did some cliche things, like "you just beat me because I wasn't at my full strength" kind of things, but still - damn I hated that guy.

The best part about it is that in the next game, after going through an entire game absolutely hating him, you realize he wasn't actually a villain per se. He was just mean.

OK, as far as annoying villains? Damn, but the RIVAL from Pokemon red/blue. After those games, your rival was just some misunderstood kid. But, when you're 12, and you're the kind of kid that plays pokemon and gets picked on, the Rival was always there to ruin your day. Unless you were an obsessive-compulsive level-grinder, it was always a tough fight until about half-way through the game, because his strongest pokemon always had the advantage over your strongest.

Ad Avis from Quest for Glory II and IV was pretty evil and awesome. You go through the whole game hearing about how evil Ad Avis is, and then you get to him, and he hypnotizes you so you have to do his bidding and nearly bring about the end of the world!

Baba Yaga from Quest for Glory I: Because she turns you into a toad, and then eats you.

The Nightmares from Zelda: Link's Awakening. They don't have lofty, world-domination goals, but,They just want to invade the dream-world of the good Wind Fish (hey - that's me name!), turn it into a nightmare, and make it sleep endlessly. And when you enter the dream, they make you encounter your nightmares too. And, they messed with your head - telling you that if you woke up the Wind Fish (which to your understanding is the only way to leave the island), you, as part of the dream, will vanish as well.

Ok. I feel I should mention a couple.
-Ganon. Or Ganondorf, whichever you prefer. I'm referring directly to the OoT version, mainly because that was my first Zelda experience, but also because I think that was the game he was most prevalent in, and where the character really got developed. Everything about him was evil, his clothes, his face, and especially his laugh. He also came across as a worthy foe, as the prolonged boss battle at the end was a real test of my skills at the time.

-Revolver Ocelot. That SOB has screwed around with my game one too many times. From the 60's all the way through the new millenium, Ocelot has been the working against Snake and his clones and being a pretty much foul guy all around. The torture sequence in MGS1 always pissed me off as a kid, I just couldnt tap my fingers that fast. It took alot of practice to keep meryl alive.

I like that suggestion of Suchong. I'm trying to rack my brain for what games I've played. Suchong reminds me of Shiro Ishii, a Japanese war criminal of the '30s and '40s.

He conducted experiments on human subjects, doing things like infecting people with the bubonic plague and then dissecting them alive, without anesthetic. Kind of like Suchong in that regard, no morals, no respect for human life.

I, too, hate Suchong. He escaped by the skin of his teeth by way of bribing the Japanese with opium. He shamelessly hopped from employer to employer when things got heavy. He made you. He made the Little Sisters and the Big Daddies. Luckily, he died in a fitting way.

I also hate Fontaine. Rapture would have been a beautiful place to live in, and then he came along. I have no respect for someone who uses the pain of others for his own gain. Once again, he dies in a fitting way.

I dunno, pure, malevolent "evil" has always been a turn off for me. Just wanting to watch the world burn isn't a good motivation for a bad guy, since he ends up being a two-dimensional "I just want to blow stuff up" person. Kefka's like the Bolshevik Muppet with all the dynamite.

I'd personally go with Saren from Mass Effect, since he (a) thought he was doing something good for the universe, and (b) killed a whole mess of people. He wasn't pure evil, but that made it more of a complicated question when it came to fighting against him.

Seymour from FFX would be a second choice, since he was manipulative evil. He never directly tried to kill you (until the end), but instead sneaked about making you do exactly what he wanted.

I don't think I can quantify evil in a sense of "ammount of evil" since let's face it: a vast majority of the games available have some evil force or person that seeks to destroy/enslave/control/conquer/whatever the masses or at the very least "you".

Only a few of them evoke much emotional response however, fewer still evoke the kind of "oh you rat bastard.. you've so got to die..!" response.

While it's not my intention to go bandwagoning, I think I'll have to mirror Suchong and Fontaine, much on the virtue that Bioshock itself had characters that evoked an emotional response (in me, atleast). I know there are more cases than that, but I'm having a hard time remembering any specific that were also villain material! Most villains I can recall either didn't evoke much response, or I found more pitiable or just have-to-be-stopped cases.
