Explain Anarchy to me

I undertand theres more to anarchy than just "no government"

however personally I dont understand how our society could run under such a thing, no one is going to clean up the streets for nothing, and some people arnt going to stop killing others because its not a very nice thing to do

Anarchy to my understanding is pure freedom... and it would crush society, not really a good thing.

Anarchy, from my understanding, is that people should ultimatly self rule themselves, and be free. The best show if a more resonable anarchy I guess would be nature itself. (Though animals within it do essentially have controlling bodies, ie Alpha Male of a pack of wolves)

But to many it is just chaotic (though not neccesarily violent) acts against government and controlling bodies.

That no-one is universally considered to be in charge doesn't necessarily mean that nothing gets done, or that no-one is controlling things.

In states where the government has collapsed, many people will just get on with their daily business as usual.

Consider, how much direct influence does your government have over your average day.

Anarchists believe that all governments can easily be corrupted by the interests of people of wealth and power. They pursue a kind of society where the people rule by cooperation, not by choosing someone to represent them.

Of course, Anarchists have been painted as terrorists since the McKinley assassination in the 19th century. While the specific group of Anarchists involved were radical terrorists, most modern members today prefer the peaceful exchange of ideas over violence.

Does that mean the Anarchist view of society is right? No. But it doesn't make them out as the stereotypical criminals society portrays them as.

'No government' is actually the true definition of Communism which alot of people mislabel with the those totalitarian Socialist trainwrecks that occured throughought these past 100 years. My understanding of anarchism is simply 'no laws'.

Play Fallout: New Vegas and play the independant path, that's what it is.

No rules or real authority which means people can do whatever the hell they like and will more then likely screw it up. But, if done right it could work, people just need to work together and not be total douchebags...

I think what you are looking for is more correctly referred to as Anarchism, there ought to be a wikipedia page about it.

As I understand it it's pretty much the ideal of a society with no state where people are free to do whatever they please. This does not nessecarily mean a society with no social rules mind you.
Essentially it approaches the same ideal as communism, just from the other direction so to speak, instead of an all powerful state you have no state, but with the same purpose behind it. Absolute freedom, non-materialism and so on...

Well anarchy is simply about total freedom (from laws, government, police,...), it is simply a natural desire of a caged animal to be free (oh but we arent animals! ... yes we are)

The downside ofcourse is "total freedom" + "animal nature" = "jungle law", and that is quite a scary thing when people got guns and nukes.

No. They simply live under a different government and set of laws.

It's already been shown that (in the game universe) almost every Governmental construct in modern history was either created or controlled by the Templars, to try and control people, from Theocracy, to Communism, to Capitalism. Hence, the Assassin's want none of those since they control people. Which is what a Government IS, at the simplest level.

So which Govt. do they live under, then? Indulge me, would you kindly?

I went for an independant vegas...

but there is still a leadership structure, the courier and her securitrons, I mean yeah the rest of the wasteland looks after itself I guess depending on each induvidual group, is that what you mean? as in the NCR isnt the sole Aurthority over the reigion

In the end,, I think an independant vegas was one of the better options, NCR just simply couldnt handle ruling over the reigion

true, though perhaps if you had enough decent liek minded people...then corruption is a possability then your right back where you started (that is probably simplyfying the whoel thing however)

It only would work in small communities with the understanding for individual needs. "Yeah I will clean the streets if you give a few loaves of bread" That type of mentality.

The problem here is that when it does work, it only works when the anarchic community has a "bigger gun" than the surrounding communities.
